Title: Anyone on this forum from Russia
Description: Wanted to verify something

Pythos - August 12, 2009 05:36 AM (GMT)
My friend is returning to Russia for his flying job that he got furloughed from about six months ago.

Now something he was telling a lot about was how the clubs operate there. He is not a Goth, or Emo, but instead he would fall into the Hip hop, house scene. Anyway the way he described things to me, well, kinda made me sick inside.

He said that if you are a man you can dress like a slob, but women are EXPECTED to dress up at all times.

If I guy wants to get Laid all he needs to do is say "hello" to a female of his liking.

A side of me says he is just bragging and just talking out his neck. But he seemed to like the idea that women basically serve men there.

I am an odd guy and find such notions terrible. I don't like the idea of one sex being considered superior to the other, and when I hear stuff like that, warning bells go off.

So for those ladies that live in or near Russia (Moscow reallY), it it like this? Are women looked at as servants, and cater to the male's whim.

On a slightly different note, Is there a Goth, or J-rock scene there. I seem to recall the government trying to make being a goth or emo...Illegal, which to me is an absurd idea.

There is a lot I don't know about the world. I know there are places where women are considered less than dogs (which just sucks), but I did not think Russia was such a place.

Well I', from Estonia (ex Soviet union, 25% of us are Russians) And i can say... Sadly its true... Its true here too...

*sigh*

xit - August 12, 2009 11:12 AM (GMT)
I don't like such a thing. <_<
We should treat each other equally, and not just expect one sex to serve all the time. That's just demeaning.

FUCK THAT SHIT! I CATER TO NO MAN!

Pythos - August 12, 2009 07:27 PM (GMT)
You may be able to figure, but I absolutely despise it when that kind of thing happens.

Something he said was he liked how every girl he has brought back from the club, did what adults do, then he would fall asleep, and when he woke up, there would be a hot meal ready for him.

It is like the women in question were getting trained to be sex and domestic servants.

I don't know. Perhaps I am weird, but to me that just seems utterly empty.

Not too mention, really risky behavior, for both parties.

No wonder I find society detestable for the most part.

... And the girls don't realize... So naive...

But since I'm a VERY poor feminist (lol penis envy any1?XD) then i have nothing bad to say about it...

Sorry guys, but WTF? I am from Lithuania, it was in SSRS and such things don't happen here. Both males and females have totally equal rights. I think there are about 15% russians here.

"So for those ladies that live in or near Russia (Moscow reallY), it it like this?","Are women looked at as servants, and cater to the male's whim."

Maybe i am not right, but i think your message is kinda full of nationalism... You should understand there are people from the eastern part of the world here too and you really can make them so sad with such messages.

What happens to this forum? It seems the forum is full of topics about equal rights and stuff. I think it is not the right place to talk about such things here. It is MANA forum, not equal rights forum.

Do you think i look like a servant? just wondering...

xit - August 19, 2009 04:04 PM (GMT)
Calm down everybody!

Before this turns into a fight. :)

Pythos - August 19, 2009 05:20 PM (GMT)
Oh no, no nationalizm.

I was finding what my friend (well acquaintance) said about Russian women (because that was indeed the topic, how Russian women are "better" than American women) unbelievable.

Knowing that this forum has people from other areas of the planet, I wanted to verify my feelings. I could not believe what my acquaintance was saying.

Oh, and the area I posted this question is the General Discussions, where everything and anything can be discussed according to the title for this section of the forum.

As far as you looking like a servant. No you don't. You look like an independent person, with a personality. What my acquaintance painted about the women in Russia is they were sex fiends who's only purpose was to serve men.

Sometimes I think people here look for the negative where there is no negative.

My intention was to gather info.

I found the image my friend gave to be extremely ugly, and backwards.

No offense was meant at all.

It is MANA forum, not equal rights forum.

But this was posted in "General Discussion - Talk about anything here"

Sometimes, isn't it better to ask instead of believe gross misconceptions?

I don't think Pythos did anything wrong in asking if this was correct. He was only conveying a message that he had been told. He never said he believed it was this way. If you feel the need to be mad, you should be mad at the person who told him that, not him.

It's like with all the hype of Islam and terrorists. If you have any Muslim friends, ask them what they think, and ask them about if things really are as the media say it is. Good, honest people will tell you the truth and tell you that there is extremists, even in your local community(if there really are any), but they will also feel glad you had the courage to ask, and find out for yourself instead of listening to what the TV tells people.

This forum is getting waaay to butthurt all the time....

Ludivine - August 19, 2009 08:26 PM (GMT)
True. This section is for general discussion that has nothing to do with Mana or his music.

This thread was created simply to ask a question about a statement made by a third person without any mention of agreeing with the said statement.

We are (I hope) all mature enough to have a discussion without turning it into a fight. Personal accusations, even if they are not direct, ascribing intentions, or harassing a member by posting rude or snappy comments in every thread they create will not be tolerated.

If anyone has a problem with something another member posted, PM a mod. If you are not sure what the member meant in their post, then you can simply ask them through PM before assuming their intentions.

If you don't get along with another member and can't stay neutral just refrain from posting replies to their posts. Of course you are allowed to disagree with something that's been said and you are allowed to prove someone wrong but if you do, do it with tolerance and respect, especially when the person was just asking a question.

I will keep this thread open so people who wish to answer the question do so but if anyone posts another comment to turn this into a fight I'm going to have to close it.

Astral Romance - August 21, 2009 12:03 PM (GMT)
I wont say my opinion now because i think you will be kinda p**s*d off to hear it... i shoulnt post on this forum often because i see you think my opinion is kinda bad or so... I am simply from different culture, that is why you dont understand me. I am not western...

xit - August 21, 2009 03:59 PM (GMT)
If anyone has a reply to Astral's post, then send a PM instead.
It doesn't really have much to do with the original question, and frankly it might start a fight.

So, only post to reply to the original question, else this thread will be closed.
