Title: Közi

Kinsao - October 3, 2006 01:00 PM (GMT)
I'm new here, so maybe I'm stepping in with both feet...

Anyway, as Közi is active as a solo artist since Malice Mizer right to this present time, there should be a thread for him, too. :) His work is my favourite out of all the ex-MM members! :)

His OHP is http://www.kozi.info

Well, news? In fact there is news! It is suspected that Közi will release a live DVD, Katarushisu (Catharsis), on 14 November. I (and many others!) did see this on the "Store" section of his official site (a small announcement at the bottom of the page). I have just rechecked the site and don't see that anymore, but my current machine doesn't read Japanese script, so possibly it's just playing silly-buggers. Anyway, I definitely saw it with my very own eyes on his site, and several times! so it's highly possible that this year will see the first ever release of a Közi DVD. B)

On 17 May this year, Közi released a mini-album Loki n' Roll; this is his latest release. (I made a review of it here: http://www.nipponproject.com/en/review.php?recensione=6 and also a review in French on the same site.)

His forthcoming shows (unfortunately for us, only in Japan) are:
7 October - Harujuku Astro Hall
14 November - Nanba Rockets, Osaka
15 November - Holiday Nagoya
17 November - Shibuya Boxx

The 15 November show in Nagoya is as guest with several other bands including Calmando Qual and The Candy Spooky Theater (I'd kill to see that show! XD)

Details are, of course, on the OHP. :)

Other activites of Közi since Malice Mizer:

A collaboration with novelist Minako, resulting in his first full album Izayoi no Tsuki.
Work with Haruhiko Ash on his project Eve of Destiny - resulting in the mini-album Nervous and Innocence, which is incredibly difficult to get hold of due to problems with the record company. -_- Eve of Destiny toured in Europe, Australia and the Phillippines, but haven't toured or released anything for a long time, leading to abounding rumours that they are going to finish, or at least just drift away.
Közi has also been involved in playing bass with a session band called Death Attack Chainsaw. They played a fanclub-only event in Japan in summer 2005. The other members are Kazune (ex-Brain Hacker) on vocals, Shimizu Shin (an old friend of Közi's) on guitar, and Masashi on drums. I don't know whether this is something that Közi is still involved in or whether it was a short-term project only. He's certainly busy! :)

Personally, I like his music because it is very diverse and original. In fact, I could write a big long essay on why I like it, but I'll spare y'all! :D

ManaVampire - October 4, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
wow, thank you so much for all this information! Any time you have any updates on Kozi, you're more than welcome to post them! (^^)

lol Kozi and the Candy Spooky theater at the same place will be interesting. I'd pay good money to be at that live. XDD

I'm really interested in this Kozi DVD. That will be really interesting to see if/when it comes out. I'd love to see live footage of Kozi's solo work!

Manic Macabre - October 4, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
Is Kozi's new project really as good as everyone says it is?

ManaVampire - October 6, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
Kozi's solo career in general is WONDERFUL. I definately recomend him.

Manic Macabre - October 7, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
hmmm....I'll deffinetly have to get someone to burn me a CD of some of his songs. Can't wait to hear some of his music!

metra - October 13, 2006 11:20 PM (GMT)
yes...Kozi is my fovourite from MM...he rullz....

Kinsao - October 18, 2006 12:35 PM (GMT)
Yup, Manic Macabre, his solo work is definitely good! :)

I certainly recommend his 'solo' solo work over Eve of Destiny, though. Don't get me wrong, I love EoD, but they play a very particular type/style of music, which just happens to be a type I like. Their music isn't really representative of Közi's solo career.

I recommend you browse around and try and pick up some songs off each of the albums, plus the Honey Vanity remix (from Memento single). If you want a hand, drop me a pm! ;) (I say pm because I don't know how often I can check this forum ><)
B)

Manic Macabre - October 18, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
Thnx Kinsao! :D I'll pm you if I have anything I need to ask you! I'm gonna ask my older brother if he can get me a burnt Cd with some of Kozi's work. btw, what does his music sound like, according to genre?

Kinsao - October 19, 2006 02:17 PM (GMT)
If you want stuff, I can send it to you! Ummm, I'll send you a pm, ok? ;)

As far as genre... oooh, it's really difficult to say! Izayoi no Tsuki has a definite classical-ish feel to it, mixed in with a dash of ambient weirdness and a pinch of fairground. Khaos/Kinema and Catharsis are more along the lines of... uhh... goth/rock/industrial/electronica, with some songs (such as Promenade, Incoherents and Honey Vanity) being a bit gentler but not really fitting into any genre. Memento is electronic/dance music, and Loki n' Roll is definitely rock, with a few of the songs having an industrial-type edge (the exception being Who's Mind, another one that defies classification but I'd call it ambient ^^).

Hope that helps! B)

thnx again Kinsao, but my computer is an older model and it can't play sound unless its on the CD player. sorry. But I wanna listen to his music! it sounds so cool! damn my father for buying me such a fossil in the first place! oh well......maybe some day. maybe someday.

Aeronniell - December 7, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)
Other than Mana, Közi is my current fav in japanese music.. The Catharsis-album rocks!! :D I recommend that to everyone.

Elegant-Lolita - December 7, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
Ahg! I miss Kozi, he was realy awesome in MM & I haven't seen what he looks like now, or heard any of EoD! (-_-);; I officially suck.
I should DL some songs (^^) He was always so adorable in MM!
Who could forget about Kozi??? XD

Aeronniell - December 7, 2006 11:54 PM (GMT)
I've heard some of EoD, I don't know about your taste in music, but I like it alot. Downloading is a sin, but sometimes I have to. <_<

Noone can forget about Közi.. :D

(Hope I don't break any rules, don't have the time to check) If you want to hear some of EoD pm me, and I can send you a song or two..

Manic Macabre - December 8, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
ah Kozi........he is my new favourite. but Mana is still numbah one. but I love the songs "Incoherents", "Life Goes On" and "Honey Vanity"! Kozi ish great, no? and I like the song "Dead or Alive" by EoD. quite good. :)

Elegant-Lolita - December 9, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
I should listen to some. (^^)

Ahh, Kozi. Hmmm, just a thought here, but wouldn't it seem kind of nice & cool if Kozi was with Mana in Moi Dix Mois? lol, I wonder how it would turn out. Them two being good buddies & all, & how they both come out together with good idea's. Well, then again, they both need to pursue their own solo career's. Maybe Im just missing Malice Mizer again.

But HEY everyone! Malice Mizer isn't over, they can come back! (^^)\/

Manic Macabre - December 9, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
yeah........but both Mana and Kozi have creative differences and prefferences on what music to make (Mana with symphonic gothic rock and Kozi with........what is Kozi's music classified as?) yeah, what is Kozi's music classified as? it doesnt sound like j-pop, it doesnt quite sound like j-rock, it sounds kinda like techno........I'm confused. anyone wanna help me?

Elegant-Lolita - December 10, 2006 02:28 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I understand what you mean.

But, I guess to me it would be nice to see it all clash together.
Nicely, of course.

Aeronniell - December 11, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
I simply say that Közi is weird. that usually covers it.. :P

Manic Macabre - December 11, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
well, wierdness is cool in my opinion, being quite wierd myself also. Kozi's music is unique and being unique and an individual is a good thing in my opinion. hooray for being eccentric! *throws confetti and streamers* :P :)

Elegant-Lolita - December 12, 2006 02:42 AM (GMT)
You can say that again. We need more originality nowadays!

(&_&)

Manic Macabre - December 12, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
no doubt. there are so many walking atomatons everywhere I go its just pathetic. :P

BeestBrut - June 4, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
The only thing I did to celebrate Kozi's birthday was set Honey Vanity on repeat all day on my iPod. I'M STILL NOT SICK OF THAT SONG. And his songs are more addicting than crack.
