English GLB's arent up to date anyway, so I dont think it really matters.

Yeah I know they didn't. Its pretty ridiculous if you ask me, and my complaint for a long time now has been, how can you create a GLB without including the people who have made it popular? Mana is a special icon for the world of the gothic and lolita bible (even if it is more so in Japan than anywhere else) so I believe he should be honored even in an English GLB for the sake that he is so well praised and influential to the Japanese version. After all, the lolita fasihon we all know and love no matter where we live IS derived from the Japanese street fashion first and foremost.
I've felt like ever since the first English GLB was released, the English version was really taking away from the real concepts of the fashion and just decided to inflate people's internet egos by posting them in an "OMGG OFFICIAL MAGAZINEE!!"
I don't know, I still enjoy reading the English GLB because it does give my mind a little bit of ease to read something in my own language. I also think sometimes they do have creative content that is entertaining to read. However, it is pretty ridiculous that they don't make much effort to include some of the most influential artists not only within the GLB itself, but also within the fashion as a whole. True Mana may only be an icon to the Gothic Lolita and there might not be nearly as many outside of Japan as there are within Japan, but I think everyone deserves a chance to see variety rather than being told how to use manners properly or how to make sweet lolita nail art.
Just my opinion and I know we've gone over the whole English GLB controversy a few times here, but I feel like there is way too much focus overall on sweet lolita in these GLBs. It is a little disheartening to not see Mana OR Moi-meme-Moitie represented in the English GLB when they're both pretty crucial in the Japanese version. Apparently there are no other versions of lolita than sweet lolita, amirite??

People who dress in Sweet lolita ALL THE TIME should be threatened with Razors!
Don't get me wrong, Sweet Lolita is really cute, BUT people make it ugly when thats all they know about Lolita fashion.
Not being funny but how many Japanese GLB's have you seen with beefcakes dressed in oodles of crappy lace??

I totally agree. The last time I opened up an English GLB I was utterly mortified by some of the crap I saw thrown in there. Not only are you seeing people over doing sweet lolita, but it seems as those the vast majority of gothic lolitas being represented are...well...I'm not even sure WHAT they're doing. I've seen some "gothic lolita" snap shots of girls doing white face, sloppy black make up, poorly done hair, and cheap outfits.
I do know one person who was posted in the English GLB and she did a wonderful job representing gothic lolitas in her Moitie outfit...but so many others I feel like are completely giving everyone the wrong idea of how gothic lolita should be done. Maybe someone, and not the Tokyo Pop staff, should write an article about how to put together a proper gothic lolita outfit and the aesthetics it represents because most everything I've been seeing on there completely embarrasses me. The other thing that I didn't like with The english version of Gothic Lolita Bible that there focus was The Lolitas in America I was so angry they should focus of lolitas in japan and other countries have more photos of Mana -Sama and other Lolita style . :dix: :mana: :dix: :mana:

Yeah, it pissed me off too....
I drove down to the mall, teeter-tottered into borders in my Moitie, went "ooooh! the new US GLB is out! YAY!" and bought it without hesitation. But when I flipped through the overpriced mag, Mana wasn't in it.....hell, MmM wasn't even featured.
and yeah, many western lolitas think that going to Hot Topic and buying the most poofy, over the top petticoat is "ZOMG! super-kawaiiiiii!!!!" and yes...they do sell petticoats now.....really bad ones

*Hides fact I may be in the latest English GLB for winning a contest* >x>;;;;;;; Ehehehe...
But I agree with all of you, they do focus more on the sweet lolita more than the gothic lolita. And I think its neat they feature non-Japanese lolita brands, but, they do need some more articles on gothic lolita and not how to get your nails done with little cupcakes and flowers on them...

I stopped buying the english GBL.
Don't get me wrong, I like sweet lolita, but they're fulling th GBL's with loads of crap now.
And the way I see it is that whats the point of calling the magazine "Gothic Lolita Bible" if there's no gothic lolita in it. (plus Mana's one of the main influences of gothic lolita and lolita itself.)
BloodRoseBed - April 2, 2009 12:04 AM (GMT)
Yes, def. to all of you! AAAAAAnd, the didnt include moitie in the most famous japanese brands! The included kikirara shoten and shotgun wedding, but not moitie!!!! UGGGGGGH!

The best is, a girl in "full" lolita... then she finishes with wearing converse shoes...
I can't even begin to construct my opinion on this...
