Title: writing to Mana-sama
Description: how to? do you know?

lips_blood_red - January 7, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
my last posting in the aesthetics thread about wanting to congrats Mana about his drumming makes me think:

does anyone knows if i ever e-mail him he would read my mail? or if i am able to e-mail him or only M+A members have some sort of "special" e-mail to write Mana? x_x

i really want to know! i'd love to write him about too much things but i'm not sure he reads my e-mails cause he must have lots of fanmails to read, also, the lenguage fact, did he understand english? or i have to write in my very much poor weird japanese... what if i write him only in hiragana? XDDDDD

the lenguage would be a problem cause i'm thinking i'd love to send him the novel i'm writting cause it's heavily inspired in stuff about him (beast of blood and the main character is called Mana and is physically inspired in him...is NOT a fanfic, it is a novel and i just thought Mana has the perfect appearance of a vampire  and so i decided Mana was a very good name for a vampire as well, maybe if i make it public, i'll change it, unless Mana doesn't care at all what is less probable XDD)

so well, going back to the question... does anyone has a clue about it?

Izumi - January 7, 2009 11:36 AM (GMT)
Mana says he reads all his emails/fan mail etc.
He's also expressed joy about receiving "foreign fan mail" XD

There is an address you can post to in Japan, you just need to put the member who you're writing to on it:

Midi:Nette / Mana / Mon+amour / K / Seth etc....
Post Restante Azabu, Tokyo, 106-8691, Japan

Not sure about the M+A one though...

And I don't know if I'm permitted to post that

ManaVampire - January 7, 2009 05:57 PM (GMT)
Well the Mon+Amour email address isn't technically hidden from the public or anything. Its the same email address given on the website for questions, comments, and concerns. The only difference is Mon+Amour doesn't directly go out and say that email is for fan mails too unless you read the Madoushos, so I'm not really sure how thats supposed to work? XD

Anyway, I've noticed there are two fields to email Mana with if you want to send him an email. One way is http://www.midi-nette.com/mana/sympathy-e.html
and the other is on the Moi dix Mois website, after you enter it you can press on "message" and it gives you a place to write an email. Also, underneath it shows the address if you want to mail in fan mails (although Izumi already wrote that on here XD)

I think for languages, English is probably preferred if you don't speak Japanese. I know he can read some English so you're safe with that! :D

lips_blood_red - January 8, 2009 02:08 AM (GMT)
thank you very much Sarah and Izumi!!

i was wondering exactly if he really read the emails from his web or MdM's :shadowx:

i think i will write him in english, maybe he could understand a bit of what i say, i'd like to write him in japanese, or even the poor japanese i have now (one of my new year's resolutions is studying japanese in the japanese embassy here to get the grant to go to Japan!!! :D ) but i can't write japanese charachters in my pc, technician says i may have a pirate version of windows :K: so i can't write them until i can get an original...

i was wondering, would it be stupid if i write him in romaji???XDDDD

if i explain him all these things? nah! it would be boring to him... i think i'll choose only in english! and thank you again guys!!

Astral Romance - January 8, 2009 03:25 PM (GMT)
I don't think he reads. I have emailed him about the problems that had occured on Mon Amour but i didn't get the answer from Mana or from Mon Amour....

knowing the fact he is able to learn to play drums makes me feel jealous...fufufu... I have asked my room mate about the boy that has drums and she said i will be able to use them for learning but i still don't learn because she has "forgotten" about it...i hate such people... OT xD

well, maybe he reads but never reply...to tell the truth i don't expect he replies.

or maybe he just get too much emails so he don't reaches yrs yet x_x

or maybe he just reads but ignores everything...

bah! i don't really know, once, about a year ago, i emailed to M+A to ask about their shipping, if they reached Mexico, cause i don't know any mexican M+A member, but they never replied

maybe it's more sure if i mail him to the real Midi:Nete address? i don't know, does anyone has mailed him to the real addres?

Well at least it was the right address... so well... I guess they just didn't reply (never tried to email them myself)

ManaVampire - January 9, 2009 08:45 AM (GMT)
The not replying issue is only recent since Mon+Amour seems to have lacked service and updates.

I have emailed Mon+Amour on various occasions in the past and I HAVE received replies from them.

I can't say those emails were recent at all, but it is safe to say that at one time emails were being checked on a regular basis.

So its a little unfair to say Mana and/or Mon+Amour doesn't read anything at all, when in fact in the past I have received a number of responses from them (back in the golden days of Mon+Amour XD). I would say the most recent response I had received from them was when I purchased Moi dix Mois concert tickets about a year and a half ago when I went to Japan. Since then I haven't really found a need to send any real emails that would require a response so I couldn't say when issues with email response actually started.

However, I think its safe to say that despite all these problems there probably is some potential that Mana or his staff DOES still read emails. Although nobody receives responses anymore even on important matters, I just can't imagine him just completely abandoning one of the most important email accounts to Midi: Nette's business.

lips_blood_red - January 10, 2009 04:11 AM (GMT)
another thing... if i write to Mana in english he would be able to read it personally? or another person would read it for him and translate him?

ah! why is so hard have comunication with Mana-sama?!!

i have writen to another few of my favorites bands and hadn't any problem, sometimes they replied to say thank you^^ .... well... Mana is not Sonic Youth.

ManaVampire - January 10, 2009 05:40 AM (GMT)
hmm, I THINK he will be able to read it himself in English, but I really couldn't say for sure. Hes talked about having to read other things in English in the past; hes even updated his Aesthetics in English by himself before, but I don't know how great his English skills really are. I think writing things simple is the key for him to surely understand. However, if you can't write what you want to say in a simple form, I'm sure he appreciates any way you write a letter to him. ;D

AngelaAshford06 - January 10, 2009 10:56 AM (GMT)
Mana adores random e-mails.

Just saying. :P

Astral Romance - January 10, 2009 11:01 AM (GMT)
Um... are you sure Mana has written English Aestetics by himself? I don't think his English is good even if he has written Aestetics.. MOIL DID MOIST xD. I think that Mana's english skills are not very good but he probably knows english a little. Oh, but i don't have the rights to say this because my english also S*^%s.

LOL yr right, and i think everyone's right too on what yr saying, and i don't really like being pessimistic, but the real thing is that it's hard for us to tell if he would read or not, i mean, he could say "oh, yes, of course i read fanmail" but i think he's busy with other things and his priority is not reading mails, he just don't seem to be that kind of person (if it would be his priority, there wouldn't be problems on M+A) so it sorta disappoints me and makes me feel like "writing to him? what for?"...

maybe it's just me, i had never been a fan of an artist that act so cold with his fans so i don't really know what to do

I know how you feel.
Why indeed say you care and act so cold all the time?
What's the point, unless you deliberately want to make people feel like a fool?
What kind of satisfaction can this possibly bring to you in the long run? Is it some sort of a power game? If so, it's pathetic...

Agreed.
That is why when I started to talk to Freddy of ChthoniC, I was so surprised that he was actually becoming my friend.

Artists that are cold have their reasons, like not wanting to over expose themselves......but it does suck that they put up a caring front.

I for one certainly don't believe he's God because I've seen him live and nobody ever saw God. Besides, he kept us waiting for AGES longer than scheduled (my feet and back still ache at the mere thought of it) and God is always right on time.

About Mana "psychotizing" or "hypnotizing" his fans, it made me think of something I read this morning about President Herbert Hoover being so enraged after losing the 1932 election that he declared his opponent (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) "must have been psychoanalized by God", ahahahah!

I think the word you are looking for is "hypnotizing"

i meant psychotizing his fans in a way a mother do it with a son or the society can psychotize humanity... but i think he's hypnotyzing them too

i was just thinking, Mana has a GREAT personality, aura if you believe in it. Also he loves to be so flashy on his lives and WTF! with his poses and attitude of GOD he seems sometimes to have (i mean, 'Beyond the Gate' cover... live performances and dvd's) and the fact he does never speak, and he loves being mysterious and all...

and the fact of calling himself "Mana-sama"...

well, i think, in goth world that may not be weird, but i think Mana has fans that never in their life has been into any goth things and so they're easy to be amused by a personality like that

i'm saying this just because most of Mana's mexican fans are teenagers and most of them believe he is god and they are wanting to begin a "manateism" religion of something 0_o (for real!!! not joke!)

so, i think Mana is unconsciously psychotizing his fans. (as Marilyn Manson xDDD)

Marianne - January 17, 2009 07:50 AM (GMT)
I personally think he is deliberately psychotizing his fans because he's always gone to such great pains to attract attention and keep the mystery going.

This is why he is a genuine star and not just a famous musician and it's no wonder some kids "worship" him because very few artists are "stars" today, they're just famous ordinary people, and people need to fantasize...

THIS.

Everyone can say what they want about Mana. You can droll on all day and night for as long as you like, but is it really going to change anything?
Sorry, I'm just getting a little frustrated at this point because I feel like every time we get into one of these discussions it just loops around into the same old "BAWW" we've heard at least a thousand times now.

Sorry to sound rude and upfront, but the discussion was initially on writing a letter to Mana, but then its almost as if everyone critiques his abilities to what he can and cannot do when NONE OF US can prove any of his abilities 100%. After that it just turns into who/what Mana cares about the most and why hes "ignoring" his fans. As Mizu-chan said, there could be a number of reasons why hes become slower in response and at this point I feel like we can't do much more than what we've done so I guess we'll just have to accept it for what it is. If you don't like it, then perhaps an artist who "cares" more for their fans would be more appropriate for those who feel Mana is lacking.

Also, from my own experience its usually younger fans who have only recently found out what Jrock is consider Mana a "God". I have never heard of any long term fans referring to Mana in such a way, and I know Mana doesn't exactly promote being called a God, so I think its just a stage Mana and jrock fans grow out of once they get past their "new fan" stage. They'll learn in time what suits their interests and they'll quit acting so childish once they find their place in the jrock world. ;)

I think this entire discussion needs to be brought back on topic.
This has REALLY gotten off course of the original idea behind the thread, so please write more about sending Mana messages rather than other fans and how Mana treats his fans.

yeah, i think yr right, Sarah, sorry...

i was thinking about, why am i feeling so disappointed or unsure about if is he reading his fanmail or not, if can i really have a straight way to talk to him that's not in a face to face meeting?

then i began comparing him with another artist i like/love (whether they're jrockers or western) and the way they have comunication with me and other fans... then i thought about myspace :) and i thought WTF Mana hasn't a myspace account yet? :o if it seems to be the most easy way to have interaction fans-artist-fans...

well anyway maybe this is irrelevant and i'm just writing this cause i'm still up and can't sleep x_x and maybe i'm just doing what Sarah just said we should stop to...

We are not children or teenagers and we must understand he won't be able to talk to everyone or write to everyone. He has his own life. I think Mana is quite friendly to his fans, he writes a lot on Aestetics but people DON'T understand he comunicates with them because he doesn't write to everyone personally.

I see you just can't calm down... Find a good cosplayer in reality or whatever maybe it helps. Or buy the European Dixanadu release with autograph i think it would help you too... I know your feelings, i think i understand you... sorry, i am not a psychologist, i think you better know what to do... *hugs*

Sorry, Sarah, you're perfectly right of course.

It's just that some of us are recent fans and not yet reconciled with Mana's rules.

We are still in a phase where we are sometimes overwhelmed by sheer frustration at his gravelike silence, and we're stupidly banging on a door that won't ever open </3

The best was to communicate with Mana, is to sit down, put your headphones on, and listen to his music.

@Astral, thank you very much^^ i think i've been acting so childish... i'm ashamed  maybe sounds stupid but i think i just never had the need of "talk" with an artist or extend him my feelings just like with Mana... hahaha

that makes me think there must be something behind it, and it makes me feel ashamed to start all this stuff just because of "writing to Mana" when i may have been mixing my personal life/feelings and turned it into a superficial thing... Thank you Astral, yr comment bring something to my mind to think about ^^

lips_blood_red - February 11, 2009 02:07 AM (GMT)
so, i decide i will write him by regular mail!!

the thing is i want to send him some kind of gift and i decided it would be nice giving him something made by myself so i started to thought what could i do, and i get to the conclusion i will make him a doll of felt (my first one i think  ) but i don't know what kind of doll he would like to... i've been thinking about a bat or something, or maybe a doraemon?

i'll be pleased if anyone have any suggestion!

ManaVampire - February 11, 2009 05:11 AM (GMT)
I think thats a really great idea! A Doraemon would be really adorable. :3 Mana always seems really appreciative of gifts so even if he doesn't say anything I'm sure he'll really cherish it. (^^)
