Title: BTSSB in the US!
Description: Store to open in California

porcelainmaiden - November 2, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
Baby’s first retail store in the US will open in San Francisco, CA, Spring 2009!

American fans of BTSSB can now look forward to purchasing their clothes in the US!

They are also hiring so if you live in the bay area (Cali) go apply today!

ManaVampire - November 3, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
Cool!! Thanks for the info! I always have a bit of an envy for CA. They always seem to get so much when it comes to events concerning Jrock and Japanese fashion. Please Japan, share your fashion and (more) bands all around the US! It would be so amazing to work at a lolita shop. DX

Maddy-chan - November 3, 2008 05:10 AM (GMT)
Now Sarah has to wait till Moitie arrives next store XD.

To me it would be nice if BTSSB would come to Finland because for an Estonian gal its easy to travel there ( return tickets cost about 30 dollars XD)

Izumi - November 3, 2008 09:05 AM (GMT)
What fucks me off about Baby...

Yeah their Clothes are to die for... but when your in Europe I wish they would ship from Paris!! GOD! it could save sooooooo much on postage!

Hoo! It would be great. I would like to work in Lolita shop *-*
But I think it wouldn't be a good idea for BTSSB shop to come to Finland, because here we don't have enough cutomers XD

But I think BTSSB have talked about opening a shop to US for a long time. So it is nice that they finally will open a shop! ^^

Oh yes! They do sell Gothic Lolita dresses in blippo XD
The quality is so bad! I don't recommend buying XD

LAST OT:
i saw that and i was like... no way... the lace is bad and i don't think it will even fit me (because it looks like its for anorexics)

Black - with BAD white lace and a tie on the frond right?XD.

bwut the one that they sole at backstreet was pretty decent :D.

AngelaAshford06 - November 3, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
I can only imagine how much the egl_lj elitists will brag about working there.

Just another reason for me to hate American Sweet Lolitas. :smirk:

Maddy> Oh yes, really really bad lace x___x And the tie! XD They also have pink and light blue dresses XD
Well, backstreet does have some good ones! :D But not all x__x
I think I once buyed a GL dress (that was AGES ago) from backstreet and the quality is quite good.
//off topic ends >D

I could say that America is not the only place which have elitists.
Here in Finland we have them...a lot! x_x
They are always say bad things about Mana, but if someone points about that they say "It was only a joke" That annoys me. I always get a feeling from their stories that the ones who like Mana are n00bs.
They are wierd... I ignore them...

And I can image american lolitas to bee excited about the new BTSSB shop. It would be the same here (but I guess that we will never have a Baby shop XD)
So american people are very lucky!

XD well for what its worth I haven't seen any killer japanese stuff yet... just a few grocery stores (but those are "asian," not just japanese, so whatever)

and... san fransisco is friggin far away. lol but i guess that doesn't matter for me, because i don't wear girls clothes (HA!) and i don't really know what their clothes are like anyways

ManaVampire - November 5, 2008 05:52 AM (GMT)
Maddy-chan> you know me too well!! (I was just complaining about how there needs to be a Moitie in Houston the other day XDD)

AngelaAshford06> totally agreed. I've been thinking the same thing since I read this.

SecretRoseGarden> Its a shame to know they're all over the world, but I suppose that should be expected. I have to agree with you, because...well, not to complain or anything, but I often feel extremely misplaced within the lolita community (online) because I hear read so many negatives about being a Mana fan and into lolita. Granted there are are some really great lolitas within the community who are also Mana fans and it always excites me to make friends with them. However, its the mentality some people show that "Mana fans are itas" that irritates me.

iSynth> I meant you guys have a ton of events in CA. XD You guys have PMX, Anime Expo, Jrock Revolution, and a ton of concerts and lolita events. It might not be in your area, but its still in CA. XDDD

SecretRoseGarden - November 5, 2008 01:02 PM (GMT)
ManaVampire> Oh yes! Here in Finland we also have nice Lolitas ^^ Here is quite rare to have Moitié, so everytime I see someone wearing Moitié I start talking with them and we usually become friends XD Or well, actually I'm not sure is it so "rare" but I haven't seen Moitié so often than for example Baby.
But yes, really it is so annoying that the elitist say that Mana fans are itas x_x
Usually those lolitas have been wearing GL and listening to MM and MdM, but then they change to Sweet Lolita and then they beome elitists and start to talk bad things about Mana. It is not always, but I know quite a lot of people who are like this.
Still I have a friend who started with Gothic and then changed to Sweet, but she likes Mana! And she still sometimes wears Gothic and even Aristocrat ^^ ~

(sorry this is off-topic XD)

I just love how all the elitists are Sweet Lolitas. They have a disgustingly sweet exterior that hides the rotten, moldy core. user posted image

lol who are the "elite sweet lolitas"??? are they the same ones that are on livejournal? like on that "secrets" forum?

and whats a "ita"??

ricky = clueless

porcelainmaiden - November 6, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
Ita lolita is like a poser lolita. I think it is bullshit to call any lolita that!!!
Except for the ones that try to pass off a costume as serious lolita.

I met a guy today in my game design class who was like "you like lolita? Thats cool!!!"
I wore some Metamorphose today.

AngelaAshford06 - November 6, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
While elitists are the ones who think they know everything about Lolita, endlessly brag about the latest BTSSB product they bought, especially if it becomes out of print and no one else has it, and most of all, they ridicule others very harshly (especially newbies). They're very well known for their two-faced personalities.

They're the ugly side of Lolita.

MarionetteMana - November 12, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
Hey, I consider myself an 'elite' Lolita solely based on the fact that I know the fashion inside and out and I KNOW how to wear it. And I'm not an asshole to newcomers to the fashion. I'm an asshole to special snowflakes, though.

Also, I hate California and certain parts of Europe, because they get EVERYTHING cool. Tennessee gets jackshit. We get Peelander-Z at our cons and those guys are freaking perverts.

Yeah well, there's my opinion. See you guys in a month.

I don't consider myself lolita, or any other fashion/social based stereotype.
I couldn't care less about Elitists really cos, I don't tell them how to wear their shit so don't tell me how to wear mine.
Yeah, I love the lolita fashion, like I love goth and cyber fashions, but I'm not a serious follower of either. I just dress however the hell I feel like in the morning.

Though I remember in France the look on the hideous lil "my-parents-bought-me-BtSSB" Lolita's giving me daggers cos I bought from Moi meme Moitie's EGA range... FUCK YOU... My money... My fucking to die for dress

I dont like the lolita's from France, my experience of them were quite bad... hence, fangirl, Moi dix Mois, My fist, Punch... You know the story etc etc

In fact thats my next mission, a proper cyber outfit! yeah! :D

Well excuse me for irking you, ma'am. Khazakstan and Georgia and other countries besides Germany, France, and other places previously visited by amazing bands are counted out of the Europe Sucks! declaration then. However, if you aren't poor, and you live in Europe, in Czechoslovakia or whatever, you can still GO to another country to see a band play. I can't just pack up and GO across the ocean on a whim to see kickass bands.

AngelaAshford: OMG like half of my friends are at UT Knox. There are Lolita meetups in Chat and Nashville and Knoxville sometimes, but I'm trying to arrange one in Memphis.... when I get unlazy and learn how to organize shit. You should come!

But it still ain't cheap to fly to anywhere in Europe from another European country... And some cities, especially like Paris, Berlin, Barcelona are really expensive to stay in.
Christ, I live a 150 miles from London, and I can't afford to stay there over night - Everything is waaay too expensive.

So its not like any of the European members on here can just go off on a "whim" as you put it...

Some people don't know they're born sometimes... Especially when it comes to misconceptions of how things really are in Europe.

MarionetteMana - November 13, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
I said "If you aren't poor", and in NO way am I dissing the HUMANS FROM EUROPE that are on the board. America is just a little jealous of "Europe" aka Germany/France/London/otherplaces because of the cool stuff that comes to those countries. In America, the only place that gets cool shit is California, which, for a lot of people, is on the other side of the god damn country. Occasionally Texas, Illinois (Chicago), and New York will get bands that go through there... but I am mostly irritated because I live in Tennessee, which is like 500+ miles away from ALL of those places, yet I have heard people complain about stuff like not getting to see so-and-so band AGAIN (meaning they've seen them ALREADY), when a lot of people haven't even seen them ONCE.

So I'm not saying YOU SUCK BECAUSE YOU ARE EUROPEAN BECAUSE ALL OF EUROPE IS ONE HUGE HORRIBLE LUCKY PLACE, so don't take it so personally. But I AM saying, and since I am a person who has a right to an opinion, that I dislike the fact that the only areas that get awesome shit are WITHIN Europe and on the other side of my country and costs $1284918952359 to go to/stay at.

Yeah I hear you... And I'm not saying you're dissing specific people. And I can understand why it peeves you so much.

But like... I got in to wicked debt to go see Moi dix Mois, in Paris.

I understand how you feel, because, especially with something like Moi dix Mois's last tour, they canceled a shit load of dates because the tickets didn't sell.
Though they did that a week before the shows were due to launch, and the tickets had been sold since about May. If they had better planning I'm sure they could have put a few more Euro destinations (Sorry, but it was a European tour!!) on the schedule.

Even though I saved up all the money I had from Sick Pay, and didn't buy anything that I could have done with, to go see them - yeah this is bad prioritizing, but its something at the time I really wanted to do, so I made the sacrifices I saw fit.

Ultimately, its up to you what your willing to do when it comes to seeing bands etc, when they aren't readily available in your vicinity.

ManaVampire - November 13, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Ok, I can understand both points of view. I suppose this is because while I live in the US, I understand the difficulty for Americans due to the distance and expense majority of us would have to go to see one "cool" band. However, on the other side, majority of my friends live in Europe and I hear about their difficulty to see bands as well.

I have several friends in Germany and I hear many times that they have to miss out on concerts, such as Moi dix Mois, because trains and flights are expensive throughout Europe, and if the band doesn't stop in your particular city (even though you live within the same country they are playing in) sometimes the likely hood of being able to go to the concert isn't very good... Its just like America in a way. Even though Europe is generally closer together than America, there is a huge difficulty with expense of even getting to the city the band is playing in in the first place. This I can completely understand because there are so many misconceptions with Americans to Europe and unfortunately jealousy is an issue.

BUT once again, there are so many differences to take into account.
I will admit that even I get a little tired sometimes of hearing people in countries lucky enough to go to Moi dix Mois concerts every time they go to their country complain about wanting to see them AGAIN for a third or even fourth time. At the same time I have to admit that I would rather Moi dix Mois go to a country where they are guaranteed to know some of the staff and have the satisfaction of being in good hands during their tour (and lets not forget, this is after all a business and they are going to play where they get easiest access to and can make money off the tour). Unfortunately, in America we have kids between from ages 15 - 20 working as staff for Japanese bands. Doesn't that sort of tell you something right there? Of course there are adults who do work with bands and all, but usually the Americans who are making promises to bands in Japan probably have NO money or experience to be doing this in the first place and then they're shoving the band off to some anime convention which probably doesn't REALLY know how to work with the band either, let alone they're lucky if they can even find a decent translator to help everyone out with the language barrier.

I've seen too many things go wrong with people trying to bring major Japanese bands over to America, Moi dix Mois included (Batsu anyone? Kevin basically made promises to both Moi dix Mois AND the fans that he could not keep and ended up violating Moi dix Mois contracts.) So having said that, everyone can complain all they want about being jealous of whoever and pointing the finger, but in the end this is NOT the European fan's decision nor is it the American's. In the end, its Mana's decision of who he works with and where he goes, and while it might not seem fair to one group of people or another, you can't blame fans for going to a concert of their favorite band and talking about it... I think anyone who hasn't seen them and has been a fan would be bragging about it at some point or another, and really when fans talk about their experiences with seeing Moi dix Mois I'm personally thankful for it because without them none of us would have any real information of how the events went and all the information of what happened and such.

I think we all need to stop arguing about this. Just because fans in certain countries get to see Moi dix Mois x amount of times, doesn't really mean they are the ones who set this up. The people you should be looking at and sending your complains to are Midi: Nette and possibly organizations who specialize in working with Japanese bands.

MarionetteMana - November 13, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
OKAY! -sends huge letter of complaint to Mana, then a ziploc bag of Anthrax to Batsu for scarring the man for life-

Urgh, I was really in two minds about responding to this but.... your attitude sucks.

We in europe are as much able to travel within it as you are GO to europe, it's an expensive place, we can't just pack up and GO whenever we please, especially since most people into things like J-rock & Lolita within europe are young (usually students) and don't exactly hold exactly hold jobs which would allow for such frivolous traveling.

There's Lolitas in Knoxville?! O_o I haven't seen any, but maybe I'll see some if I go to Kajonk (and yeah, it's a weird name :P).

I think a December meetup in Nashville would be fun sometime. I usually go there in mid December to do all my Christmas shopping.

I would be very nervous about my first impressions though. :o

Lol, okay. I dropped it when Sarah posted, so I'm not going to give you the benefit of a response. If you want to argue with me, you can inbox me. But I probably won't respond. I explained myself further in my later posts so perhaps you should back read.

Anyway.

AngelaAshford: I don't know of official Lolitas in Knoxville, just my high school friends. XD BUT there should be meetups in Nashville. Moi_Dix_Jasdero (I think is her name on here) organizes them a lot. However, I don't want to go all the way to Chattanooga... it's 6 hours away from where I live. Nashville is ideal because it's THE CORE.

porcelainmaiden - November 14, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
A good reason why many foreign bands can't come to the US is because of visa issues.

Many bands have issues with felonies and governmental problems, so they often have to cancel.

Moi_Dix_Jasdero (I think is her name on here) organizes them a lot. However, I don't want to go all the way to Chattanooga... it's 6 hours away from where I live. Nashville is ideal because it's THE CORE.

Nashville is a great idea for anyone in TN, because you don't have to travel too far or too long. :D
