sooo in my painful journey (aka the week without a computer) i was forced to find other ways to keep busy... totaly hard cos im a nerd and i sit at home all day!! well anyways i went to borders and GUESS WHAT!? GLB #2!!!!!

mana's article was dorky but in a good way XD he talked about some vampire movie and flowers and then he went on this long rant about airplanes... such a nerd. i didnt buy it but i'm looking for scans XD it was really cute and the most i've ever seen of mana talking.. and it says he has a regular colum in it now!!!

p.s. sorry if this is talked about inanother thread already. i havent been on here in...like... 7 whole days so im out of the loop XD

nop...i've gone to the anime cons in here and i've never see a GLB...so sad...i know the quality of that conventions in here is not very high... -_-

well, i'd do that...but i don't have a credit card right now to buy from the web...that's the reason why i hadn't buy yet so much things i wish...(including M+A subscription T_T ) but soon i'll get a job and get me with a credit card and start spent money on the web until i get my credit card overdrafted... :unsure:

just out of curiosity... does anyone acutally buy the glb? because its kind of expensive and it doesnt seem that interesting... like it was cool, but you can find better pictures and stuff on the internet from the japanese glb scans and stuff.

i wonder if they will keep making them. it seems a little light to me... does anyone buy them or read them?

The English one or the Japanese? I buy and read them both. I prefer owning the actual thing over scans when I have the money.

i thought the mana article was interesting, but the pictures looked really bad quality... they were really pixelated like someone had resized the pictures wrong. maybe it was just a printing error? it was mostly the mana pictures.. the rest of them seemed fine, but they might use a little photoshop to touch them up and make them look more profesional. anyways, the whole thing just comes off a little campy to me. plus it seems like the livejournal lolita girls have a huge inflence over it, and i know this sounds bitchy but if i am reading a japanese fashion magazine i would kind of like to see stuff about japanese kids to. there was more talking about lolitas in america, and its frustrating because i can see that all for free on the internet.. i would have liked to see some japanese people talking. does that make sense? i mean i like to read about americans to, but they could have gotten a better blend. plus the manga was REALLY hard to follow... some weird flower disease thing... right over my head.

god sorry i'm rambling.. this is what happens when i dont get enough sleep and drink to many energy drinks.

Mana's pictures were bad. It's like they removed the soft blurs he uses and tried to sharpen the images. I'd like to think it was a printing error as well.

EGL has a huge influance over the english Gothic & Lolita Bible. When Tokyopop origianlly put the idea out they put it out to the egl community. It kinda annoys the extent that the magazine focus on the community and it's members activity. It's like I'm paying to see stuff I already saw on the internet months ago...no thank you. However I ready it mainly for the translated content over the original american content if that makes sense.

Hehe I had to read the manga twice to understand it properly. It's quite sweet actually.

The Japanese GLB is more fashion orientated. Other than that, it reports on events like Tokyo Dark Castle and other upcoming events that would interest the Japanese lolitas plus snaps from them occasionally. It also sometimes have culture related things like etiquette, cooking etc. It doesn't really have anything like the readers spotlight or the old meet up pictures that the english one contains. Generally, in my opinion the Japanese one is better.

I have to agree with you Sweet_decadence.

When I was the Mana pictures in the English GLB I was thoroughly disappointed by the photo quality printed in the magazine.

Personally I would much rather read a more fashion oriented magazine with events and such of interest rather than reading about the lives of the members of the EGL community. Half of the pictures and information I read in this GLB vol. 2 I felt like I already knew from lolita communities.

I personally buy the English GLB for the translated content as well. :P

I was kinda disappointed in the quality of the photos as well. And I too also felt as if there was nothing new in GBL vol 2.

I agree with you too. The Mana pictures are really bad quality. The only reason I might buy it is cause there is a picture of two girls I know who live here.

They were horrible (quality speaking) The edges were like complete pixel ><'

But the interview was just so damn cute in my opinion! I love it when he talks about his sea monkies! :heart:
