Title: Discontinuing size 3

I just thought I should let people know that I found out today that Moitie are thinking of stopping the production of size 3 clothing. Apparentley they're not selling as well as they'd hoped (which I thought was a bit strange since a lot of size 3 stuff has sold out, hasn't it?) so they're thinking of discontinuing the size and just going back to making size 2.

At least this explains the lack of size 3 things in the recent update!

Also, I found out today that there are now waiting lists for the new Moitie Ritual print jumperskirt, so if you wanted it, time to put in an order! Apparentely black has sold out, and there is now a large waiting list for Ivory. I entered the waiting list on Monday and only have a 50% chance of getting the Ivory dress, so that shows how popular it's been! I think this is a bit shocking since the dress hasn't even been shown yet! ;__; It will be released into the store in the middle of this month, so pretty soon!

Also, the dress will only be available in size 2, in line with the above information.

I'm screwed for blouses now. So what do you guys make of this? Some of you were saying that Moitie should do more sizes but they're larger size doesn't sell well and on a different note. I want to see this jumperskirt!

that sounds strange, i wonder where the source found out about it? i guess i dont really understand girl sizes because...well i dont wear girl clothes lol... but from previous convos on here, it sounds like there really isn't to much of an issue with sizing so... how much difference is one size down?

Astral Romance - June 5, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
What does it mean to me? It means that i will never be able to buy ANY Moi Meme Moitie dress, skirt or blouse or i just will have nothing to do but to buy size MEEEN :anger:

They're where flyers instore about it. I think she said in the comments.

That one size down makes a big difference especially if moitie ever wanted to branch out internationally (as in shops or attending conventions). it's also important to people who can't fit into size 2 but i guess that shouldn't be much of an issue since not enough people need that size. I just felt people should be informed.

ManaVampire - June 5, 2008 11:37 PM (GMT)
awww, discontinuing size 3?? This makes me sad. ): I really liked size 3 more than size 2 because there was at least a little bit more room to breath.

I want to see this new skirt too...

iSynth - June 6, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
here is my thought: international business is probably not that great for moitie. the official site doesn't sell internationally, and they dont cater to more size groups. it must be for a reason, right?

i think this person :mana: has disappointed me very much this time... :anger:

ha! and i was thinking about asking my dad to buy me my first moitie to use it in the presentation of my thesis...what an idiot!! Mana doesn't deserve a cent of mine to buy his insane clothing...

:plant: Thats a bit extreme and offensive to people who fit into size two. While the size 2 is small it's not extremely small. The reason they stopped it is because they're size 3 isn't selling well. Please think before you speak.

Thats exactly it. They're simply isn't enough international interest for them to branch out more. Otherwise they're would be more sizes and Moitie would be more easily available.

Heres a good tip for Mana: DROP YOUR PRICES

Agreed

ManaVampire - June 7, 2008 01:00 AM (GMT)
I can't think of the right word for it right now, but I don't think its particularly...necessary... to be so upset just because they're dropping size 3. Sure, size 3 probably fit most foreigners a lot better, but honestly out of all the lolitas out there outside of Japan the percentage of people buying Moitie is quite low... If size 3 is really doing next to nothing for their business then it is logical to discontinue the size. You should keep in mind, most foreign lolitas are far more into the Sweet Lolita style rather than Gothic and out of the Gothic Lolita styles, places like Baby, the Stars Shine Bright and Metamorphose are actually making more money on the fashion rather than Moitie.

Yes, I believe a major factor brought into that is price, but in my opinion I think Moitie almost becomes more "desirable" because its so expensive. I know thats not quite good for business because this means the business they get is terrible in comparison to other lolita companies, but then Moitie becomes the clothes so many girls wish they had and makes those who have it in the lolita world seem more "high maintenance" (for lack of better words). Moitie is considered an "elite" lolita shop, and while I'm not quite sure if I agree with these tactics of it, its just the image Moitie has brought to me when I think of them compared to other shops. In the end, I just buy Moitie because it makes me feel like myself and its my choice in fashion. But other than that, I'm not sure how necessary it is to complain about their business ethics and how "mean" they are for not selling any one person's particular size (I'm not saying everyone here is complaining about this...just a general statement).

Also, I doubt this was specifically Mana's say in discontinuing the size. There are other people who work on Moitie than just Mana, and I'm sure they also have a lot of say in these things. I'm not trying to defend Mana and be like "OH POOR BABY", I'm just saying its a company and there are more people than just Mana involved with Moitie. XD

iSynth - June 7, 2008 01:18 AM (GMT)
I think the majority of japan-based lolita companies are expensive and small XD

Izumi - June 7, 2008 01:25 AM (GMT)
I personally don't give a crap cos i fit Size 2.

Thats pretty much the issue I have with buying Moi meme Moitie, Price.
I've bought a jumper skirt and a head dress from Baby the stars shine bright and pretty much all of that plus the shipping costs the same as a basic Moitie dress before ANY of the taxes and shipping prices or customs for that matter. So thats a bit pissing off.

But, if theres no demand, then whats the point of making the size if its not needed?
I suppose you could look at it now as you're size 3 garments will be collectors items

i'm so sorry, i didn't pretend to offend anyone... i was just angry and i couldn't control my words, i'm sorry if i offended you Sweet decadence or someone else that fits 2 size, that wasn't my intention...

i know there are people who fit in it, but there are too much people who doesn't (obviously including me) my body complexion is not skin, as i've said i'm latin and i have big breasts and hips as most of the women of my race so it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to fit in a 2 size so please try to understand me, i'm feeling totally exclude and invisible for Mana, he doesn't care about coming or anything with latinoamerica, and now he just do this...i understand Mana it's not the only person in MMM but he's on charge of it and i don't think it's stupid because size 2 is especially a skinny size, i think it's stupid cause i think it's stupid exlude people...it's like he's saying: "Sorry girl, but yr too fat to wear my fabolous clothing" or "Gothic Lolita it's only for skinny people" (and very muc skinny people, because size 1 and 2 are very small, even for me) and don't take this personal nobody, as i said, i know there are skinny girls that have skinny bodies, but i know lots of girls too who wouldn't care about put in risk their health to reach that small sizes...(cause they have bodies like mine that couldn't reach a small size easily cause it would be out of proportion)

ok, i understand that if someone is very much fat didn't look very well in a lolita outfit, but i think sizes like 3, 5 or 7 are not fat...even a 9 size, i think these are regular or medium sizes, so someone in MMM (maybe Mana) it's excluding regular persons with medium sizes reserving moities only for small sizes, that's why i think that's not good (and at least, i think Mana is an artist so he should know beauty is very much subjective and only lies in the eye of each person) i don't pretend to give a sermon, but i think that anorexia and bulimia are very dangerous at this time, and in young people, and conscient or not Mana is supporting that illness in someway doing this kind of things, or even put his image and name in a label that only work with small sizes...because thare are other lolita labels that have the whole sizes and even x-large sizes...

i don't know, but it's hard for me to believe that MMM is not selling 3 size well, does the whole EGL and EGL users around the world are only small sized?? or maybe it's because it's expensive and maybe the people that can buy them are skinny... <_<

why it's hard for me to believe it...?? <_<

at least only Mana or whoever that works on MMM administration knows the truth...but sad that Mana don't think about social facts...he disappointed me really much cause from my point of view this is worst than M+A problems, but well maybe he would have a financial deficit if he keep on producing 3 sizes <_< and i don't want him to be poor cause if he gets out of money he'll stop to produce music and that's what i care the most about him...cause he just kecked me off moities T_T

mmm...i should write him a letter, i'll do it when my pc write kanjis...and i'll say all this discurse to him...if he cares...maybe he'll just say: "Bah! histeric girl, don't wanna lose my time reading yr sermons" jejejeje :P but i'll still buy his music...

jejejeje that's right

Manic Macabre - June 7, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
Well that's a bit disappointing. DX

I hope this doesn't apply to the EGA line as well. I'm not even sure if I can fit into any of it at the moment. XD

Also, as for dress sizes I hope to (maybe) buy a Moitie dress after I move out, because I plan to cross dress for Team Holy Taco. So I hope I can fit into a size 2. XDDDDD

....Why did I mention this anyway.....? DX

Immortal Angel - June 7, 2008 09:26 AM (GMT)
umm if there are size 2 and 3 ... ist there also a size 1?? O.O

Apparently there used to be size 1. I don't know though, I can't remember where I read that cos it was aaaaaaages ago.

However i also read that a size 2 Moitie dress, is the same as a Japanese female size 9, which is the equivalent to UK 8 and US 6 or something ? I'm not sure.
But even Baby the Stars Shine Bright have dresses the same sizes as Moitie, and they too are considered Japanese female size 9. (but they have bigger sizes than Moitie too)

I guess alot of people who aren't exactly skinny or not fat for that matter could possible get away with some dress cuts. But I'd say if you were larger, try and get something thats Shirring - that means its really stretchy.

sweet_decadence - June 8, 2008 12:54 AM (GMT)
@ Lips-Blood_red:It's fine. I can definately see where your coming from with this.

I thought that the size 3 was doing well. It's very odd that when other brands are branching out and offering a wider range of sizes (mainly to cater for they're international markets) that Moities attempty at this failed. Though alot of the western lolitas are sweet lolitas so brands like Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Angelic Pretty get much more business. Price is also a mojor factor. With moitie your also buying from a celebirty label which I'm sure is what makes it more expensive than the other lolita brands. It is a pity.

AngelaAshford06 - June 8, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)
@Izumi: I thought you said PANTS.

@ManaVampire: A good thing about the price of Moitie is that you'll stand out in the sea of BTSSB cupcake dresses.

Those prints are so hit and miss. :/

Um, has anyone noticed that Moitie has raised their prices on new items recently? Their prices usually range from $230-$320, but the new releases are at least $300 now. :tears:

well well well, i'm confused  about the sizes...so a 2 moitie dress issuch a US 6 size??? mmm...so that's not that small...it's small but not very much...can someone clear this? when i see moities in cd Japan says the size in cmt...and i could fit a 3 size...but i've never seen a 2 size...i'm confused...

and yeah, i have to check out the shirring, i think Moities are a very high quality clothing so the shirring may be really good...

and Sweet decadence, are brands that sell EGL or GLP in larger sizes...and so what about the EGA??? EGA must be for everyone...whatever, i still think that Mana is very much wrong doing that, he's a famous person and he must sell more than other brands, except because of the prices but there are still other brands that are very expensive too...
