Title: Official Mon+Amour Questions Thread

ManaVampire - May 10, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
If you have questions concerning Mon+Amour and the process of joining Mana's fanclub, please post them here. :mana:

iSynth asked a question in the old thread about what is an admission fee and an annual fee and Izumi answered it for him, but I wanted to start with that one on this thread here just for people who may want to join in the future:

An Admission fee in Mon+Amour is a one time payment you must pay to actually enter in Mon+Amour. This is what gets you a Mon+Amour ID and if you're a platinum member a Modousho filling binder for the news letters you will receive on a monthly basis. It is required payment when you first join the fanclub.

The annual fee must be payed once every year around the time you originally joined Mon+Amour. For platinum membership this fee is 10,000 yen, equivalent to about $100 right now for US Mon+Amour members (it is high due to the currency exchange rate). This fee could be cheaper for Mon+Amour members in Europe or elsewhere (please let me know if it is!). The annual fee pays for 12 months of access to Mon+Amour translations on the website and Madousho news letters you can receive in the mail.

While the Annual fee must be payed once a year, the Admission fee is only payed one time, so the first time you join Mon+Amour it will be more expensive than the years after when you renew your membership.

Now that I think about it, it really isn't that bad at all!

Standard shipping for a small, low-weight envelope to/from Japan to US is around $0.90 USD.

The average cost of a magazine (take your pick... tabloids, fanzines, sports, special interests, beauty, etc.) is going to be around $5.00 USD.

A "subscription" to the Mon+Amour Modousho is 10 issues I believe (one every month, and two combined.) So lets say each issue you are charged $5.00 + $0.90. That brings you to $59.00.

Now lets give that snazzy binder an estimated worth of... $20.00 USD. A little pricey, some might say, but what the heck, its fun.

So all together, that makes for about $79.00 for Modousho-related fan club content alone. Yes, it's steep compared to other "magazines," but apparantly its great content and you can't really find it elseware.

Most bands in the US charge around $30 to join a fan club. Granted, they usually throw in a shirt or members-only forum or something. But then that's it. Aside from maybe ticket pre-sales, they've got they're money and their done with you. Mon+Amour, on the other hand, is like the gift that keeps on getting because you keep (hopefully) getting those fun little Modoushos in the mail!

So lets pretend now it's a normal fanclub that costs $30 to join. That, added to the $79 we calculated earlier, and there you go! Mon+Amour, paid in full!

I can't believe I did all that math!

P.S. What does Modousho mean?

ManaVampire - May 11, 2008 03:27 AM (GMT)
Madousho doesn't really have a DIRECT translation, but it means something along the lines of "evil book".

Well I guess when you put it that way its a good deal, but also Japan is an expensive country so all the stuff they sell is typical Japanese prices so $115 probably isn't much money to Japanese people as it is to us abroad. XD

The only thing I found that was bad about the whole deal was how TINY the binder and the booklets are! They're REALLY small. :/

But in the end, I think its overall worth joining if you're a dedicated fan and you really care about Mana a lot.(^^)

The beauty of Mon+Amour ticket sales!

You can buy tickets direct from M+A... AND! heres the awesomeness... When me and Lu were in Paris, we had advanced access to the venue. Cos of this we were allowed to be close to the stage!!
And they arent so badly priced considering they could be called VIP tickets... 25€ if i remember correctly for M+A tickets...

Ludivine - May 11, 2008 02:26 PM (GMT)
Yup it was 25€ and worth it! ^ ^

ManaVampire - May 11, 2008 03:11 PM (GMT)
Hell yes, Mon+Amour ticket sales are WAY worth it to join Mon+Amour! I got ticket number 8 in Japan meaning Mana was right infront of my face the entire time!

About the fan club concert tickets...

Pretend I'm a member. Am I allowed to buy a fanclub ticket for my friend who's not a member? Or does she have to provide some proof of membership to use such a ticket?

ManaVampire - May 12, 2008 02:09 AM (GMT)
Usually members are allowed a certain number of tickets they can purchase through the fanclub.
These ticket purchases can go towards friends without memberships, but if you want to do that you will have to be there with your friend and verify that you, the member, purchased those tickets for your friends by showing a form of ID and a print out of your ticket purchase confirmation.

Also, when you are purchasing tickets for yourself and friends you do not pay Mon+Amour when you make your ticket reservations. Usually you pay at the door with cash, so if you make reservations and you can't end up making it to the concert there are no worries.(^^)

ok...about the membership, i really want the platinum membership, but i'm not sure if it is suit to me right now cause i think, if i understand what i read in the M+A website, that the only difference between standard and platinum is the acces to privilege entrances...but Mana will never come to here and i'm not allowed to travel right now, so my question is...

if i get standard membership, i can chance it later for the platinum???

or there is another reason to get the platinum that' not the concerts???

ManaVampire - May 13, 2008 05:03 AM (GMT)
As far as I'm aware, both standard members and platinum members both get early access to concerts. The only difference between the two is Platinum members get the Madousho newsletters mailed to them along with a Mon+Amour binder and standard members can only read internet translations of the Madoushos.

Yes, you can always change your membership from Standard to Premium when it is time for renewal.

I hope I'm not grave-digging here since it's been a long time since the last post, but I have some questions about Mon Amour and I didn't think that it really fit into the Mon Amour problems thread.

Okay so as soon as I get my first pay check I plan on spending it all by joining Mon amour but I know within the year I will probably move out from where I live now. So I was wondering if you can change your address. I know you can't change your type of subscription until it's time to renew, is it the same for adress changes? And if you can change your address anytime does it delay the mailing of your Madousho? I don't want to miss a month. :K:

Also are the Madousho just sent in the mail like any other magazine or does fedEx or something deliver it?

Sorry if those are stupid questions. I got confused when I was reading the rules for joining. ^_^;

You can change your account info anytime. When you're logged in you just have to click on "Your Account Information" and there you can edit it. I don't know if it delays the shipping of Madousho though since I haven't moved in ages (last time I moved was from the apartment downstairs over 6 years ago)...

earl_yoru - August 1, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
yeah i was wondering about the type of shipping too...<_< i have to know what to look out for....since my neighbors hate my family and like to steal my mail.....i hope its not delivered like a regular magizine....and also does it come in a box or in an envelope of sorts? O.O

ManaVampire - August 1, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
yes, its delivered in the regular mail just like a magazine.(^^)v

Seirou - August 2, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
Oh. Thank you Sarah! Well, you never know. Most of the time when I get stuff from over seas it's FedEx.

@earl_yoru
Maybe you should get a p.o. box and have it sent there. That way you know they won't steal it. Because I know you're like me and really really wanted it forever and then you pay all of that money and someone steals it. That would be horrible!
