Title: Gothic Style
Niru - April 6, 2008 08:13 PM (GMT)
Sence there is a Lolita thread, I thought it would be a good idea to make a Gothic thread.
I have been trying different styles but my physical apperance is so horrible that it made the pictures small. :[
(I don't like the way I look... if you were wondering what I meant.)

Jinxlynroth - April 13, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
well you don't look THAT horrible ***you over exaggerate things***
hahahahaa sorry I can't spell
yes It's about time there is a Gothic Style thread here! ^_^
Ludivine - April 13, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)

ohhhh
in the 90's
I reckon the gothic clothes were better and less low life you could get them cheaper
and you didn't have to order them from the internet!
at my favorite opp shop
it has all these gothic clothes from the 90's even more so than the glam and 80's wear and 70's jeans etc.
people around my area throw them away heheheheheheee
and thats why I'm getting that sexy wedding dress for "Unknown" purposes lol
there is this place called Newtown
well it's not new the houses are Victorian
it sells gothic clothes and the like
the best shop has to be Gallery Serpentine
http://www.galleryserpentine.com/
Ludivine - April 13, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
The best thing was to shop for clothes in normal stores and fetish wear shops or get a few vintage items depending on what style you preferred (I liked to mix both) but if you didn't want to bother shopping around you could always go there:
CruellaI still shop there for some accessories or shoes but for the rest it's mainly Moitié hehehe

You're welcome! The owners are really nice so I like to promote their shop. I used to play bowling with them (hehehe yeah a bunch of goths playing bowling...)
And btw I agree with you. Gothic style was better in the 90's (or the 80's). Back in those days we didn't see kids wearing cake makeup and reversed crosses pretending to be vampires. I think the medias ruined it all (like tend to do with everything when it comes to underground styles or fashion). It used to be elegant and tasteful while being dark but not morbid. I hate how people mix up goth and emo now. THEY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON!!! It takes maturity and good taste to be goth without looking like a freak. I stopped being goth cause of what it has become now. One thing really pissed me off. After the shooting in Columbine.... what we could read in the newspapers (one of the reason why I don't like them... cause of the misinformation) was that the guys involved in the shooting we goth. What???? Those guys had nothing to do with the gothic subculture!!!! Wearing a black trench coat doesn't make you goth! Yeah gothic people can seem weird to some but they don't go around shooting people!!!! You'll never see a fight in a gothic club (never hear of that happening here... the worse I've seen is a guy being slapped in the face by another guy cause they were fighting over a girl XD)....
And last year the medias here started blaming the goths again cause of the shooting that took place at Dawson College. The guy who did it was wearing black and was a member of vampirefreaks.com so they started blaming goths again... they just needed a scapegoat... and it really pissed me off!
Ok sorry about that rant but I really had to cause it has been bothering me for years....
Now I really have to find some pics to post to get back on topic hehehe...
Diva Satanica - April 19, 2008 07:55 AM (GMT)
fantastic xD
and very sexy xD xD xD xD xD :P
Astral Romance - April 19, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
I've also NEVER seen fights in gothic clubs. People think that goths are very strange because of their dark style. Sometimes people just ask me, if i am a satanist or such, because i always wear black clothes. I hate such questions actually :anger: ... Many goths are really friendly and normal people, almost all my friends are goths and to talk with them are more interesting than with "normal" guys... if you understand what i mean :D :mana: .
I don't like that emos. They are just emocional teenagers. Nothing more.
Violet Rose - April 19, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
I also heard about how the media were targeting the goth culture, which IS bullshit. They were also blaming Marilyn Manson for Columbine. There was a documentary by Michael Moore or whatever and he actually interviewed Manson. Ok, I know Manson is totally not goth, and it pisses me off that he get blamed for alot of things, but he defended himself quite well. Moore asked him if he could say anything to Dylan and Eric, what would he say? Manson replied " I wouldn't say a thing. I would listen to what they had to say, and that's exactly what nobody did."
Not to mention that Dylan and Eric didn't even like Manson. :K2:
Aside from that, Goth will never be the same. Most people don't even listen to old school goth anymore ( Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxsie, etc.) ok, maybe the Cure.
And what REALLY pisses me off is that people think goths are metalheads. I could seriously fucking strangle anybody who assumes that. Sorry about my choice of words, but i've had bad experiences. Yet, don't we all? </3

Yeah, I believe that too. The golden age of the goth subculture seems to be far gone, and this new age just isn't as alive as it used to be I assume. Although I wasn't goth back then, seeing as how I was either really little, or not conceived yet. XDDD
Also, I've been wanting to listen to some of the old school goth stuff, in an attempt to get closer to the subculture and solidify my roots. ^_^
And not everyone knows that there are different variations of goth, which is sad. I took this interesting quiz once, and it told me I was "Industrial Goth". I was quite pleased. XD

Totally. I'd love to know more about it, and hear any cool stories you have. ^__^
lips_blood_red - April 23, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
i've never been goth, (but to tell the truth my friends always tells me i'm some kind of...'closet goth'? hope u know what i mean  jajajaja) though i totally love gothic style, clothing, literature, make up, these baroque and very much elegant style, art, i really luv it!!!
but...well i'm not sure of this, if you know please correct me, in here (Mexico) there is two ways of 'goth' style, (or at least the 2 most popular in a 'goth' style), maybe it's the same in the whole world, maybe not, i don't know...
one is the Goth subculture that is about elegance, medieval art, and everything you see in yr mind when you think about Goth art, it includes operistic and clasical music...
all these elegance and goth art are mixed up with 'dark' :ph43r: things (not the dark style i'm talking down), i mean horror, blood, malice and all these kind of things...(things that totaly catch me and the reason of my nearly title of psychologist *yes i'm mad and i know it and it makes me happy * ;) )
the second way is called 'dark' subculture and to tell the truth i don't like it too much, cause their ideology (in agree of what i learned from talking with too much people) is like emo...jajaja, yes, they love to be depressed all the time and they only wear black outfits because of the mourning they feel in their soul, they think society sucks and everyone is bad with each other just because 'it is so' and they're like 'suicide' persons, and blah...blah...blah...the only thing that have in common with Goth subculture is the appearance, and this is very bad for the Goths, jajajaja, they totally loathe people call them 'dark', and 'dark' is actually most pupular than Goth, so it happens frequently...poor them!!
Well all this just to say i love Goth, but i think i'm not a goth girl because there is too much things i love very much asides the goth (i'm some kind of weirdo that mix punk, grunge, hippie and goth appearel   ) jajajajajajajaja

I love the classic Goth style. It's so classy. :P
Saw this site the other day and thought it had a number of cute things on it. Too bad they're kinda pricy and in the UK.
Click ~~~I love this outfit. *A*I would love to wear something like
this, but I don't think I could pull it off. Whenever I try to dress in a unique way, I always get strange looks. :( Recently I wore some slouch socks and I decided to wear them stretched out above my knees with a cute dress (that's past my mid-thigh, but above my knees), and some people looked at me like I was a streetwalker. -_- (Makes me afraid to wear my plum colored lipstick I recently bought in public.) I'm jeans and a shirt usually, but when I try to wear a dress and feel feminine, it just seems to backfire. Thanks to Mana, my new year's resolution is to be more feminine, but it can be so hard to be confident.
How can girls in anime pull off tall socks with a mini-skirt and knee-high boots?! How can Goth girls wear pvc and look cute and awesome?! :o

That's the jerk syndrom. :P
If we (i.e. us guys) see a really beautiful girl, then we immediately just give up, since we know we don't stand a chance of achieving anything else but a cold shoulder, since the girl in question would just consider us a jerk.

I fucking hate the thug culture here... its like... whats so fucking cool about being horrible to people and hurting them for being nothing but good people?
I wish there were no stupid treaties that protect prisoners and stuff i think if you commit a crime you waiver all your human rights and you can have whatever the hell society sees fit as punishment.

But what those teenagers did to that couple, really made my stomach turn.
It gives me chills too.
The cruelty that mankind is capable of can be very brutal and gruesome.
To be killed simply because you look different just isn't right; it's absolutely sick.

That was...sorry, I'm completely speechless. Words cannot describe how much hatred I have for humanity right now. Fuck, I'm shamed of being human. Thank you for making my day worse than it already is. Now excuse me while I throw up now.

This story was on the news today here. Its so horrific. This is what makes me hate being British. This is what makes me hate my heritage. This is what makes me hate people.
(i say this because recently, in britian its was announced that criminals actually break in to our prisons now...)

oh!... :o :tears: that thing is simply so SAD! T_T it's simply unbelievable that we're on 21th century and things that happened in medieval age (like witch hunting) still happens today... Thank you, 'cool dual moralist society' <_<
So sad to say it...but similar things happend just weeks ago here in Mexico, but not with goths, it happened to the emo boys and girls; a crowd of young people almost lynch a few emo boys just because they were 'emo boys', they beat them and if cops doesn't come right on time..they would be dead now... T_T
Since then, if you walk on the streets, and you 'look' like an emo (use that hair, dress in tube pants, etc, etc, etc) yr in risk of being assaulted by another person, or even get shouted shity words or that someone throw something at you... :anger: :/
It is a total shame that this is happen to people that look 'different' than you aroud the WHOLE WORLD!!! -_- i'm a totally peacefull person, and it's horrible for me to live in somewhere with violence and hate :tears: so, the big question for us is..(as Linda Perris sings one day) WHAT'S GOING ON??????
*sorry the extension of the comment, i just can't contain myself when i'm talking of thing like this*

There is a man campaigning up in the area where this attack happened, he too is also into the goth culture, and he's campaigning for the term "hate crime" to be extended in meaning, because this clearly was a hate crime, but the current definition does not include being attacked etc on the basis of how you choose to look.
He also had a petition with over a 1000 names to get this definition broadened. I really hope he achieves it, because the attitude here really does suck.
When I was younger, i was heavily into the goth culture, I went out with white skin, black eyes and lips, chains etc... and I've been pelted with missiles from cars, spat at, pushed over, ganged up on, I had a bunch of "wanna-be ghetto" boys (I say wanna-be because ghetto culture isn't a British thing... WE DON'T HAVE GHETTOS HERE! GET OVER IT!) who must have been between the ages of 17-24 all stand around me just staring at me when i was 13 - never been so fucking scared in all my life!
Even going to the local store a few streets away... I can't walk past the "gang" as they like to think they are who stand around outside it with out having "hey its not Halloween yet!!" or "Love, with you fuck my friend goth style??"
I hate it! I really hate the stupid attitude of other people... if like, we were gay or of a different race and they said something about that, then we could do something and be taken seriously... its a sad existence when you wont be taken seriously unless your beaten to death like that poor girl.
Evangeline - April 29, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
D: God....that is awful..poor girl >.<
I really dont understand where people get an attitude like that from. Idiots...why wont they see that we are all just humans and that makes us all still the same. And stop being like: LOLOLOL GOTH LETS BEAT HER!! Just because its 'awesome' if you beat someone up who looks different than you do. - -'' People like that really piss me off.

Got the same type of comments from "wanna-be ghetto" boys (and yeah we don't have ghettos here either!). But that was when I was in college... so we were about 19 or 20!!! How can people who are supposed to be adults can still act like that??? And how can you judge people based on how they look when all you do is hang out in front of the vending machines .... GET A LIFE! I might look weird to you but at least I have one and I don't need to harass to feel important cause I like who I am! And there was also older (not gothic) people who went to goth or darkwave nights thinking it would be easy to pick up a girl there cause they had it in their heads that goth girls were all into s & m and purvey stuff. YOU'RE IN THE WRONG PLACE! If it's just sex that you want go somewhere else where I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

Poor couple...that's so horrible. -_- I never knew stuff like that happened in other countries.

that happened to me too when I was 13
It's horrible
There are alot of wannabe ghetto's here in sydney too
and now I just just sexually abused by rapists
It's ironic that they acted as if I was another creature when I was 13, Now they act like I'm a delicate whore girl/actual pedo toy lolita girl
and I'm really really tall
I'm not used to getting hit on and crap
and I know I don't look absoutley drop dead gorgeous or anything like that
It's disgraceful that they couldn't tell the gender of the victums there
Assholes like that do it to look good in front of their mates
the goths here are also sorta dangerous
(they crap on about how hardcore they are)
(the teen one's that is)
and the Newtown prositutes
are anything but ladylike
and they also sexually harrass me and all
some of them do deserve to get bashed actually (not brutally)
because they use the fact they dress goth to sexually abuse me and all
it's not how you dress it's how you act
alot of elders respect me actually
they don't call me a stupid satanic goth girl :heartbeat:

Wow thats sad. I hate ppl who get so worked up because the see someone who is different.
a girl at my school used to be nice to me but when I went goth, they where very mean to me.
I ignore them but most people at my school either don't care that I'm goth, or think it's really coolXD
This other girl at my school said Mana should be killed because his is/was a cross dresser. All I could say was , just because someones different doesn't mean they deserve to die or get hurt (no one dose really)
It's annoying when ppl are like that.
I hate stereotyping too.
