Title: Meaning of Dix
Description: philosophy much?

Acacialazuli - September 12, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
So I was pondering "Dix" today and I came up with a few thoughts. Firstly I will assume that you are familiar with Mana-sama's explanation of dix/10 so I won't expand on that. However, there are also many other ways of considering the numerological significance of the number 10.

<edit: I am withdrawing my views but I'd still love to hear what other's thing>

Pretty cool, I think. Anyone else wanna chime in with what "Dix" means to you?

"Dix" or "ten" means to me the best mark in school or university. So "Dix" is a very good number :D

Apart from the obvious ten, the only association I can think of right now is a ten-sided dice, the decimal system, and a top ten list.

Honestly I haven't thought much of it.

Hm, interesting topic you've set up up, Acacialazuli. I must say I haven't thought about it very much so I can't really give my views on it. Though Astral Romance's post got me thinking a bit. Ten is the highest grade one can get (though I'm aware of other grading systems), so if you look at it in another light than school could ten perhaps stand for the highest one can achieve, the top, the best, the ultimate? I recall that in an interview Mana-sama once said his goal is to find the ultimate sound (something like that). So, maybe a connection? I don't know really. It seems a bit far-fetched maybe now I think some more about it, but it's what came into my mind. Perhaps it's useful if we look at "dix" in context with the rest of the band's name. Moi dix Mois would literarily(sp?) translate as "Me ten months". Could there be some meaning in it as a whole? Could the different parts all have a special meaning? Any thoughts?

"Me ten months"
Ten months is the length of time a baby is in the womb according to the Lunar Calendar, used by China and many other Asian countries.

Assuming from the name of Mana's band, It seems like it may be a referral to his musical journey that he's taken on his own. He considers music to be a major part of his life, or maybe that music is his life (i don't know about that one, but may other musicians consider that) , therefore a solo career could be seen as a musical rebirth.

I don't know though...

I see it as exactly what Mana says it is. Thats what he feels its meant to be and its his band so I guess thats the only real meaning of "dix".

Fure-chama, please don't sit there and try to point the finger at "narrowminded religious fanatics". I would consider that name calling and pointing the finger at people when you don't even know the situation.

Even though I speculated about it....

I agree with what Sarah has just said

I agree too however the question is "What Dix means to you?"

ManaVampire - September 13, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
Then my answer to that is "dix" means to me what it means to Mana, seeing as thats what he intended the meaning to be seeing as I would assume this is concerning the band, rather then a general number written in the French language. Thats just how I feel about it. If this topic is intended for anything else other than roots to Mana's purpose of it, then perhaps the topic should be moved.

The number ten is mereley the perfect number. It's what you first learn to count to, and what little kid that you know counts up by twos (2, 4, 6) before they count up by tens (10, 20, 30)? :P

Just for fun.....okay.

I have stated before (on another thread) that i found a 667 in "M d M".

But just a few days ago, Lorraine007 and Dante found 999 in "dix". now isn't that fun.
