Title: Dark Sanctuary Review
Description: D'espairs Ray/Moi dix Mois concert

ManaVampire - August 23, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)
I'm back from Japan!! (not that I'm happy about that XD)

As you all have been waiting, I finally have a review up on the Moi dix Mois concert at Shibuya O-East that I saw on August 19.

I really dont feel like rewritting it up over and over again, so this is actually from my journal, so sorry if it doesn't make total sense from the beginning, but you should be able to understand whats going on. XD

---

So it started out with me waiting around Shibuya at 3:00 for Lily (a friend of mine from Sweden that goes to several of the MdM concerts in Japan).
She eventually came a little late and we went to go get our tickets.

Once we got them we went out for curry for a late lunch/dinner.
It was nice talking to someone who could actually speak some English. XD

After dinner, we waited around for the concert to start. There were so many amazing looking people there!!

I happened to get ticket number 8 and my mom and lily switched tickets so my mom could sit in the back and Lily got ticket number 9.
When we were called we ran straight in and got spots RIGHT where Mana was to be.
In the mean time, I made friends with some American guy thats currently living in Japan and teaching through the JET program.
We talked about that a little, along with Moi dix Mois, obviously. He was really nice and I liked getting to know him.(^^)v
Unfortunately, I never asked his name...XD

The first act that came on was D'espairs Ray. Suddenly /EVERYONE/ pushed forward and I was crushed onto the railing.
I probably wouldn't mind it so much, but I was at a REALLY uncomfortable part.
I was at this part of the railing where one set of rails stopped and one set started, so the rails were verticle against me and crushing up against my hips, crotch, and ribs.
Everyone got really wild and the girl behind me was so crazy about D'espairs Ray that she jumped ontop of me and just stay on me the ENTIRE concert. I was really kind of upset because I'm not that strong to be holding someone up on my back for an hour and a half and there really wasn't anything I could do about it. >/

D'espairs Ray was pretty good. They mostly played their new songs, I think like three old songs, but I really loved their old stuff so it was good to hear. I didn't really think their new music was much to brag about. Most of the Moi dix Mois fans didn't really like them, and they were quiet immature about it in my oppinion. A lot of them had this attitude of "Well I don't listen to them or really care to see them so I am going to stand here with my arms folded and pout until Mana comes out." That was also a little upsetting. I figure you might as well enjoy what you have. Moi dix Mois will come out eventually, so why not give D'espairs Ray the time they deserve as well, seeing as they apparently were working together with Moi dix Mois on this one, or else they wouldn't be performing.

Oh well. I was happy they came out. I hadn't seen them in two years. Karyu kept posing a lot for the photographers and he seemed like he kept looking at me quite a bit. XD Probably because I was the only foreigner in the front with really light blond hair. My mom was sitting in the very back of the venue on the second floor and she said I really stood out from most of the people there. XDD oops.

Finally it was time for Moi dix Mois to come out! I was getting so nervous, but by the time it started up and talking to the guy from the US I had calmed down a bit.

The music started playing and the curtain slowly opened. First you see Seth standing infront and Hayato obviously in back on drums. then Sugiya, and K, and finally Mana standing there with his arms held up in dix signs.

The first song played was Forbidden which really got everyone into it from the start. I was amazed by how powerful of a performance they have even straight from the beginning and they just don't stop!

Mana came straight up to the edge of the stage right up in my face! He did that a lot.
He was absolutely amazing!! I mean...god..words can't describe how amazing he was in person.
I have to say though, I was a little sad that he has new boots now. His old ones were breaking I think, but these new boots aren't signature Mana boots...they look like something I have at home. XD
They don't even go up to the knees now. ):

Everyone wore the new white outfits and Mana used his new Jeune Fille X Gips Crossray most of the concert. He seemed to have a lot of fun making it blink, because he was really making it do that quite often. XD

Everything was played from DIXANADU, but they also played Deus ex Machina and Vain.
Last Temptation was wonderful live. It was so filled with emotion that I seriously almost started crying...but I didn't. ;D

Most of the time, I admit, my attention was focused on Mana more than anyone else, but from what I did pay attention to with the other members is how K is full of so much energy and tries to get the crowd going, Sugiya is really cute and makes me think of a happy little cat named Fred, Hayato seems to be a very strong drummer and tries very hard, Seth is extremely animated and seems to know what hes doing, and Mana as always, is Mana and hes absolutely wonderful in every way~ <3

In the middle of the concert Moi dix Mois stopped playing a little while to talk. Seth got out this sheet of paper and started reading off of it. Unfortunately, my Japanese isn't good enough to understand what he was saying, but he kept making a lot of jokes about Mana. When he was telling jokes about Mana, Mana just kept standing there adjusting his collar for a really long time and not paying attention to anything. XD It must have really been bothering him.

After that Moi dix Mois tried to teach everyone how to do the movements to dispell bound (yes they're still trying to teach everyone and it seems like its been a while now XD). I still didn't understand what was going on, and so I kinda just started following the crowd and whatever Mana was doing. I guess Seth said to put your right arm in the air at first, and obviously as I didn't know what was going on, I did a dumb thing and put my left arm in the air. XD I had no idea, and then Lily kinda hit me in the side and told me right arm. 500 DUMB POINTS FOR ME!

Eventually everyone caught on, and dispell bound started up. Everyone did the movements along with the song, which was actually very fun. After that the concert continued on.

During Neo Pessimist Mana kept taunting all of us in my area. He'd sit there and put his hands out right above our hands. He'd get his hands really close, but not quite close enough for us to reach. Then he kept getting closer and closer to the edge of the stage. He eventually got so close I almost touched his hands, but then he moved away. ):

However, later, he started up with the same thing and this time I was able to at least touch his guitar...well...actually...I tried touching it and my fingernail slid across it on accident. :x I felt kinda bad. I hope I didn't scratch it. (T_T)v

After about an hour and a half the concert came to an end. I really didn't want to see Mana go. He was too amazing!!
Thats when the encore started up after a few chants of "Moi dix Mois"

Everyone came out and they had us all chant "Dix Love" and then played Immortal Madness

After Immortal Madness was over, everyone went off the stage again, except Mana. He ran over to the center of the stage, and brought his arms wide out, blew a kiss, and then layed his guitar on the ground after just playing it so it made loud noises, and then he left with it still on the ground.

The concert was soo amazing, and its hard to describe it in complete depth after its been a few days since then, but the spirit is still there. I feel so happy for seeing that concert and I want to continue to go to more and more Moi dix Mois concerts in the future. I think seeing Mana completely made me forget about all the bad things that had happened before in Japan and I thoroughly enjoyed everything afterwards and never wanted to leave. I cherished every moment of the concert and even the aftermath.

The only bad thing was, was that I was extremely hurt from being pushed against the rail. I had a hard time moving and breathing for several days after, and I still have problems from time to time from it. :/
But, if thats the price you have to pay to be that close to Mana then its more than worth it.
I miss Mana so much now.(T_T)v

My mom and I headed to starbucks in Shibuya after the concert and discussed Mana. XD She said she might have been a little wrong about Mana being so girly at times and she also thought he was very beautiful and amazing.

After we finished our drinks, my mom realized she forgot all my closet child bags in the locker at Shibuya O-East!(;_;)v

We had to run back and get them. Fortunately there were still some people there. All the roadies were loading up all the instruments and there weren't really any fans around. There was a police officer there who got an employee from the venue to open the locker room for us and we were able to get our things. Then we went back to the hotel, even though my mom kept trying to get me to mingle with her around the venue to see if we could see Mana come out. I really couldn't do that for several reasons...mostly because I was too shy to stick around for that. XD

I'm sorry, you probably don't want to think about this but ESP does not do a very good job with hard paints (so you may have scratched it) , but come on,that was so fucking funny.

I told Lorraine007 and her mouth fell open.

XD

O, but seriously, it sounded realy fun, and i also hope you recover from the rail of equival exchange. (some of you may get that.)

i think it's fine, i don't think it would've left a scratch. Nails are too soft to really do any damage, unless to REALLY put the effort into it.

I think I am now, except my feet are still black and blue. XD

Oh, and I'm sure some of you have heard of this before, if not, at every concert Mana wishes for everyone to fill out these little survey type forms after the concert is over. I got little packet of papers and fliers and such, but I didn't realize the form to fill out was in there until I got back to the hotel, so I didn't get the chance to fill mine out and submit it in (Mana reads all of them that he gets). I was going to just do it at home but I after reading over it, I could only understand half of the paper (as its in Japanese) so I just sent Mana an email instead. XD

None the less, I thought you guys might like to see what Mana is talking about when he talks about these forms he likes everyone to fill out, so I took pictures of it:
