YAY! I got this magazine from the Jrock con I went to! (God bless the Miyavi-man who sold it) Do you know if there's a translation of this article anywhere?

(Looking at Amy in those pics, and then recalling how everyone says I look just like her makes me realise just how bad I'd look next to Mana.. XD)

You know, its things like this that make me wish that magazines like Foolsmate and Shoxx were sold here in America. XD

It's the only way i'd ever buy them (if they were sold in the UK, obviously).

Y'know what with me not liking most of the bands that usually turn up in them.

NOW, the GLUB! THAT I would buy on a regular basis, if it were here.

I think SHOXX is supposed to be sold at Hot Topic in the US, but I have yet to see it. The only time I've ever boughten a SHOXX magazine was at a Japanese grocery store that I'm obsessed with. XD

From what i've heard, we're not missing much when it comes to Hot Topic.

Really? Oh. Well, the closest thing I have here in my city is a store called The Crypt, which seems pretty cool. My friend bought me this awesome spiked belt from there! :)

Here (well, next town over) we have a shop called "Destroy Inc", the owner's pretty cool, he likes jrock has a bright red mohawk and lets us loiter in his shop.

There's also a place in Belfast called Fresh Garbage, but I haven't been there in about five years so it might not be there anymore.
Oh and there's also a vintage store called the rusty zip, i got my trench coat there.

I think someone can guess where this is going...

OMG! I love both Mana and Amy. I wish I was able to get this magazine but... well, is there an English translation somewhere?

I just don't like her...

I never liked Evanescence from the start, I thought they were so terribly overrated and got too much air time. It's not like they did anything new.
I'm not one of these people who are like "OMG MAINSTREAM SUCKS!" I just have a natural tendency to like things that are not popular or even hated by people...

And another reason why I don't like her is that I have a gay friend who just is obssessed with her, I just want to punch her and Amy Lee in the face!

(my friend is freaky though....

I'm not trying to be mean or group anybody here in one category, but just as a generalization A LOT of jrock, especially Mana fans don't like artists such as Amy Lee and Gwen Stephonie (sp) because of their portrayals of the Japanese pop Culture (mostly Gothic Lolita) in Western Countries with their types of music and physical appearances.

Sadly, there are American artists who can easily gain a lot of popularity and seem to overrate themselves and they're starting to get into fashions derived from jrock artists and Harajuku station in Tokyo in showing it off in ways that disagree with how the Japanese wish to portray themselves in the music and fashion. I'm not saying this is why EVERYONE into jrock dislikes artists like this, but you'll find it quite frequently, since a lot of people's oppinions vary.

Personally, I try not to be TOO judgemental seeing as to understand Mana, I also try to understand his interests too, so I give anything he likes a chance...and he happens to like Evanesence, but I've known about them since I was pretty young so I pretty much know what they're like. XD I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Evansence myself, but they're alright sometimes.

Evanescence isn't too bad. I kinda find Amy Lee's voice pretty. But I don't think they'd be one of my favourite bands. I'm not much of a mainstream guy either, plus I really don't like stuff that's considered mainstream all that much either. That's just the way I am.
But I think Mana and Amy Lee might be able to get along great with each other. ^^ But if it were something like "Mana x Emilie Autumn" I would be so insanely happy. XD

A fine trade indeed. ^_^ Sarah, don't get me started on Gwen Stefani. Ugh, all I say is that she used to be punk, but now she's a sell-out gangsta hoe and a poser. <_<

I'm not saying that I don't like Amy Lee, Evanecscence or other such artists because of their potrayal of J-cultures. To be honest I couldnt care less what they potray themselves as. They just don't appeal to me.

I know what I said isn't why you don't like Evanesence. I just kinda wrote that as a generalization because some fans that come from other music scenes into Jrock don't quiet understand things like that... and a lot of jrock fans have a tendancy to get touchy on the subject of artists that try to promote the japanese pop cultures in their own way, unfortunately. I can understand some of it, but its sad when people make up dumb excuses to not like an artist (even though I'll admit I'm slightly jealous of amy lee myself, but thats human nature, ne? XD)

Trust me, you're not the only jealous one here. XD

But I do get your point about some Jrock fans.
I personally can't get my head around why they get like that. Though it can be rather amusing browsing forums of groups of fans assaulting each other with bulletins.
I say they're all fucking wrong anyway, Cos' Mana is better than all the bands they listen to anyway :P
