I started this thread to maybe learn about Mana's thoughts on sin and such things like murder, late night partying, drinking, drugs, religion, and other things of the sort.

If anyone has any info please tell me.

I guess I'll write a little of what I -DO- know for sure, and then a little bit of my own thoughts of him and how he possibly feels towards things.

murder-- I'm sure he's just like most decent people in this world on that subject...he probably doesn't like such things going on in this world. Most people don't.

late night partying-- Mana goes to parties after every concert he has and then some for different occasions. I really think Mana enjoys his little parties a lot, but of course he usually has them with other jrockers and people he knows fairly well (midi: Nette staff, Moi dix Mois members, other friends along the way in the music industry and other things). Hes known to drink, but thats really nothing unusual if you really think about it. In a nut shell, Mana is a typical Japanese man, but music and visuals are his job rather than an ordinary office job as most people work. Mana also enjoys staying up veryyyy late. He usually starts composing music around midnight and he can stay up until about 3:00 in the morning playing video games. I think late night partying is basically something normal to his life, because hes a Japanese man, and generations are really moving further away from older Japanese times and more into late night partying and clubing constantly. Thats just how most of the younger generation is functioning now...its like...to us going to the movies, maybe out to eat, going to a cafe, or possibly playing sports outdoors would be typical to most of us abroad, but in Japan usually things like going out to eat, clubbing, and partying at night is very typical to their society.

drugs/smoking-- This one, I personally find a very interesting and significant subject to Mana that, to me, in some ways sets him apart from so many other celebrities and people in general and shows through with even him being a role model. Mana doesn't NOT like smoking or doing drugs. You will never catch him doing anything like that, because simply, thats not his style and not something he enjoys doing. Mana is the kind of person who likes to stay healthy and he really takes care of himself. He watches how he eats, how he excersizes, and just his body and health in general. Its an important thing to him and a big part of who he is. Why I think its so interesting that he DOESNT do these things is because Japan has one of the highest tabacco rates in the world. Almost everyone smokes, and I'm sure quite a few people do drugs as well (I mean, look what happened to Daishi of PLC...). Everyone else in Moi dix Mois, however, DOES smoke, as most jrockers do (and like I said, almost everyone in Japan does), but its just something Mana doesn't do. I'm really proud of him for it.(^^)

religion/sin- This is such a controversial subject even to Mana himself. He -DOES- believe that there is a higher power, like a God, but hes not necessarily any religion in particular. Personally, I don't think Mana was ever educated very much on religion (as most japanese people tend to not be so much, and if they are its usually buddhist). What I find interesting is that Mana does enjoy reading books about Christianity and other religions around the world, and he even asks in his Aesthetics journal entries for everyone to pray for his safety when he goes places. Hes really had some in depth thoughts on the subject, but I think its still a mystery in some terms to him...I think hes having a hard time grasping it, because once again, its a big culture issue.

A lot of things about Mana and his life that you really have to consider is his past and present, how he thinks past normal events in life and more into his own world and thoughts, but you also kind of have to apply the Japanese culture, because thats a part of who he is so he naturally has quite a few thoughts that can relate very easy to the Japanese culture and the way society works over there. Still, Mana is actually quite "western" for growing up in Hiroshima and living in Japan all his life. His family had a lot of musical talent, so he was brought up in a slightly different way than most people are over there...thats something I like about him and his family. I think it also broadens Mana's perspectives and thats also what has helped shape the variouse "eleborate" thoughts he has now...like, when he really thinks hard on something he can go really deep into his mind that I think not everyone would know how to relate to, but when you do actually get to hear and understand his reasoning it becomes quite interesting and gives you a new look on things.

wow. I'm glad to see that Mana is generally a good person. I'm glad he takes good care of himself too. ^_^ and I'm especially happy he doesn't do drugs either. it doesn't suit him. :)
but I know Kformallyknownastoren will be shocked to hear about the rest of MdM's slight addiction as well as my gf. (they're fans of K and Seth and have crushes on them too)

Why is it so shocking? Surely they know that Japan is big into smoking? And why would they stop liking someone just 'cause they smoked?

well, they dont know about Japan and smoking, and I'm sure they wont stop liking them because of a bad habbit. I chew my nails and they still like me. :P but then again smoking is worse than chewing your nails, but you get the idea. plus I dont hate K and Seth either, I just think its a bad habbit. I won't hate anyone cuz they smoke. my mom does and I love her very much.

Mana's ears are pierced, and there is a possible tattoo of a cross on his arm. We don't know though. >3

I don't really think that Mana has his ears pierced and tattos on his body.

Mana wears earrings in like a million pictures. Many of them look like earring-earrings. I seriously doubt he wears magnetic earrings. Those things hurt, they're annoying, and they fall off easily.

I don't think he has a tattoo, but there is a picture where you can kinda see something on his arm. However, it could be the shadow of his wrap.

Concerning the subject of potential arguement in this thread:

Please understand MarionetteMana is here to help me to keep these forums under a steady condition, and she has been working harder and keeping updated with the forums, the member's activities and such more than any of my past moderators. She is entitled to voice her oppinion on any subject she likes on Mana-sama.net forums as ALL of us are. I understand the question in particular was aimed towards me, but it was put out publicly, thus it was open for discussion.

I promise I will come around in time to answer any questions you may have for me, but please keep an open mind towards EVERYONE on the forums!(^^) If you do not like what they have to say, please just ignore it or take it up with them personally, but don't drag it into an arguement amongst everyone else. This is something important I think everyone on the forums should go by.


ANYWAY--

These are my particular answers to your questions, General:

Mana doesn't have a problem with piercings, and he DOES have peircings in his ears (no, they are not fake).

Also, he might have a potential tatoo, but it hasn't really been proven. A few people have noticed something on his left arm from a picture in one of the Gothic Lolita bibles, but as MarionetteMana said, it could have just been part of the print from his shirt (it still looks like a cross tatoo to me!)


And no, Mana does not have children, but he does have a niece, Mi-chan (who is 2 years old now). Mana loves her more than you can imagine, actually. Mana really loves children.(^^)

So this is where my thoughts come into play, I guess.

Mana believes he is a rocker. He may seem sweet and elegant, but in all honesty, he REALLY thinks hes death metal rocker in his heart. He loves bands like Slayer, Motley Crue, and Iron Maiden, and thus Moi dix Mois has been extremely inspired by several death metal bands Mana really loves. You would be surprised in things that he likes (such as tatoos and piercings) that probably wouldn't seem anything like him to most people.

As for kids and family-- I think Mana is content the way he is now, but if someone special were to come along in his life, I don't think he would blow them off. I really think Mana takes things as he goes on in life, and if he were to find a girlfriend (or boyfriend even) in his life and want to marry them, he would. I also don't think if he did find someone he truely loved he wouldn't hold back on having a sexual relationship with them-- he is human after all, and General did bring up a good point that he does write about romance such as that in his lyrics. I do actually think he would want kids in the future if he got married, because he REALLY seems to love them, especially his niece. I think he would love to have a child of his own to dress up and influence as a big part of his life, kind of like someone to hold up his name after he passes away. I don't know...I just think deep down inside, he'd probably like that.

The thing about Mana is, he can be hard to read sometimes. He is very eleborate on his fantasies, but in honesty he writes down his internal feelings. Perhaps the romance he writes about in his lyrics does reflect a way he would like to feel, or could be even feeling at the moment. Mana is very adament on the fact that he writes from his heart, so we could never say for sure that he's had sex or not. I definately don't think hes the kind of person who would just go around and sleep with anyone, moreover they would have to be the right person for him. Most of his lyrics I think he tries to keep with the theme of his albums along with his feelings, but nothing is really for certain unless we could get into his thoughts and feelings or get to know him on an extremely personal level.

True death metal would sound something like Belphegor, Panzerchrist, Incantation, or Nile.

I don't think hes ever heard of those bands before..but I wouldn't know. He mentions Motley Crue and Slayer most of the time, and hes the one who calls them Death and Black Metal, not me. XD I'm really not as educated on the subject on "what metal is what" as I should be (even though I do enjoy music like that) so I don't even try, I just quote what Mana says. Anyhoo, there are a multitude of metal genres, more than I care to remember.
Doesn't help that a genres name might change depending on country. For example I've met some British people who switches around black and thrash metal (don't know if this is general for all of Britain), all of a sudden making Metallica a black metal band. :P
Don't know if the definition of death metal is different in Japan. *shrug*

@ xit-- the variouse metal terms in Japan could very well be different then countries abroad (like you said happens in England). When you consider the fact that "gothic" does not have the same meaning in Japan as it does in the US and Europe, we can only wonder what else would also have a different meaning to Japanese people.

@General-- Yes, Mana wore wigs SOMETIMES in MALICE MIZER. There are quite a few times where I could probably point out to you specifically that hes wearing wigs during several live performances (for example, le ciel live and Mana's pig tails in Societe de Parente). Now days, the only times you'll ever really see Mana wear wigs is when he is trying to go for the EGL style, mostly in Gothic Lolita Bibles. However, specifically with MALICE MIZER, yes, he wore wigs quiet often in and out of lives.

As for the ESP guitar...considering Jeune Fille X Bronze is so new, I doubt they're going to make another guitar for Mana in the NEAR future (especially since Mana is so in love with his new Jeune Fille), but I'm sure in the future they definatel will make something even more amazing!

General: Ha! See, when you disagreed with my opinion, I think you took what I said the wrong way. I wasn't saying Mana's never gonna get it on with anyone (Mana forgive me if you ever read this)... its just that he's not really a typical guy.
