Title: illuminati
Description: (shivers)
changelingVI - December 10, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
i just watched the illuminati music video (shivers again) mighty weird stuff. three questions:
exactly what is occurring in the video?
what do the lyrics mean?
what do the lyrics and video have to do with each other?
ManaVampire - December 10, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
To me, both the video and song are about lust and sex.
Obviously by watching the video you can notice sex is involved along with blood...I think the blood, bondage, etc in the music video are trying to show (in a strange, twisted VK way) the way they perceive lust.
The song, in my mind is just kinda talking about lustful sex as well...
Thats just how I see it though. I'll admit, I'm not exactly an expert on Malice Mizer songs and their meanings because I just enjoy watching the PVs and listening to the music more than taking on the technical aspects of trying to translate what their saying and such...but thats just me. Maybe someone else could answer those questions better than I could.(^^)v
I found lyric translations here, so anyone else who might have not read the lyric translations can put in their own thoughts of what they think its saying along with your thoughts of the video:

I think this site give us good informations about the Iluminati song :
http://www.lerman.biz/asagao/setsumei.htmlIt has also an interpretation of the merveilles album, though it is not complete.

I have always thought the lyrics for Illuminati were more religious based, kind of. Only because when I read the lyrics I seen hints & words, like Nimrod, and holy grail. But when I read that link that Kiaiku posted I was stunned.
A lot of thought went into that, lol. But it did seem to peice together and make sense.
The video on the other hand is obviously about Sex, gore, violence, S&M, bondage, and all that other jazz. I dont really know how they could connect the lyrics with the video together. I thought it was another one of those video's that didn't have anything to do with the story of the song. But when I again read that link, I could see how it works.
Jeez Malice Mizer, you guys are too smart for me! lol :P
Although, you got to admit, the whole thing works.
Not to mention seeing Mana in it as well.......
No comment. ;p
One thing I dont get, however, is...
Are all of these things acted out by each member their own fettish? lol, cause I've heard Kozi really does prefer S&M and has an eyeball obsession. (0_0)
Manic Macabre - December 10, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
the Illuminati video disturbed me and my girlfriend the first time we watched it. There is a certain meaning behind the lyrics, that are tied to religion in a way, or so I've read. but I think the video was about Malice Mizer being shown their inner desires, via virtual reality.

Speaking of which, not to go off topic here, (sorry!) but does anyone have the PV for Illuminati that they could send to me? It would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to get it from Batsu, but no luck.
Pleeeaase, & thank j0000
& if Im doing something wrong, or Im not aloud to request a PV then Im real sorry! (^^)
ManaVampire - December 10, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)
Its ok as long as you don't trade over the forums (ie posting a link from yousend it for everyone to download). Sorry, I just don't want to be held responsible and get in trouble for video and media files on my website. ):
Yeah, I was going to mention the religious part in Illuminati, but I wasn't FOR SURE about it...It talks about the Star of David, which had to do with the jewish religion, and if you ever watch the entire Merveilles concert theres a whole act on the jewish religion and a lot of scenes that seem quite relevent to the consentration camps in WWII right before they play Illuminati.
Manic Macabre - December 11, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
wasn't the part with WW II during the N.p.s N.g.s performance? I thought it seemed almost similar to that.
ManaVampire - December 11, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
well yeah, they had it in NPS NGS as well, but also during the Merveilles concert. NPS NGS was never played in Merveilles. XD The NPS NGS performance and the one during Merveilles (the nazi act) were two completely different performances.(^^)v

I've always thought of Illuminati PV as a cross between the "re-education" scene in Clockwork Orange and Video Drome.
Like, the story is:
Gackt's a rapist (or some other sort of violent criminal) and he has been chosen to undergo a new therapy.
So like in a clockwork orange he is tried to a chair and has drugs pumped into him (if you'll remember a syringe was placed into his arm at the start of the PV) while he is forced to watch violent and disturbing scenes.
The idea being that he will learn to react in a negative way to such scenes in the future.
I say it's in a similar nature to Video Drome due to the intensely sadomachoistic theme that runs throughout the video.
All in all, I like the PV and don't care how perverted the world thinks I am. :D
ManaVampire - December 11, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
I could believe it, actually.
Secretly, Mana has done A LOT of "borrowing" from other bands, singers, composers, movies, video games, etc. I'm sure he had some influence with the rest of the band to "borrow" variouse things for their PVs and music within Mailce Mizer as well (hell, he did it in his own appearances for a lot of MM pvs, so why not influence everyone else while hes at it? XD)

N.P.G. N.G.S. was played in all the Merveilles Tours, though it is not shown on the DVD of Merveilles, and Nazi act in Merveilles? I don't think so...if you're talking about that ritual I think that it has a connection with illuminati, showing the ritual sacrificing of a woman.
In a interview Mana talks a little about this:
"Kozi and my solo is the continuation from the Budoukan. You can say it’s a continuation from last year’s year end live, but this time one form has ended.
This time the woman we made sit in the chair was alone, but did you notice she gave me and Kozi masks? From the instant she does that, something happens. Something’s changed too. It might look like an electric chair, but it’s not, and we’re not necessarily doing an execution either. We’re expressing something that lies at the depth of the human heart, but I wonder if it’s good to say anything more…nope, I can’t say anything else (laughs)."
Elegant-Lolita - December 12, 2006 02:59 AM (GMT)
Hmmmmmmm...
Either way, Illuminati is a good video. I ended up getting it from a friend, so I am happy (^^)
Another thing, on the subject of "borrowing", lol
You know, when Mana has his gun, and he takes aim (its in Illuminati, of course) well, when I watched Mylene Farmers "Libertine" in the beginning she does the whole gun fight thing, lol. Well when I seen that I was like, "hey maybe Mana got that idea and incorperated it into Illuminati, kind of like a signature move." I thought it was cute, but you never know, he might of not even gotten the idea from her.

Thats what I was basically trying to say about the ritual act in Merveilles, that its connected to Illuminati.
I wasn't exactly agreeing that they borrowed from a clockwork orange, but it is a fact that Mana "borrows" from other people...if he likes to admit to it or not. There are some resemblences to variouse things that are more than strikingly similar if you do your homework.
I don't know..when it comes to the more religious "looking" things and "rituals" and such, I have a bit of an internal conflict against Mana on that one... Not that I'm trying to be argumentative to what hes trying to portray or anyone's beliefs, but I just have my own morals and beliefs that when it comes to a couple things hes done in the past here and there, it kinda clashes with me...but I do try my best to understand where hes coming from.(^^)v

I dont know...I downloaded it a long time ago...
Manic Macabre - December 24, 2006 04:34 AM (GMT)
ooh.......Merveilles..........must buy the album. but in my opinion, I liked ILLUMINATI [P-Type] better. maybe cuz I heard that one first and not the original. same with N.p.s N.g.s [N-type].
kiaiku - December 24, 2006 06:05 PM (GMT)
in this site there's the track list that they played in the night that they recorded the concert of Merveilles, it's a shame that they cuted the non-merveilles songs...:(

I LOOOVE MERVEILLES!!!! Gaaarrr! I'm going to buy the album, its a MUST!!!
But, back on the topic of Illuminati and trying to find out what the lyrics really mean...I found this,.....
http://www.centigrade-j.com/phpBB2/viewtop...b178e72907531e6Its just a persons interpretation of the song, I think its good. But, I'll let you check it out for yourself. ;)

I'm quite fond of ILLUMINATI. Both the song and the PV. To tell you the truth I alway thought of the song to be sexual. Yes, there's a lot of religious refrence in it but after reading the translated lyrics and watching the PV I keep thinking that it's more about sex than anything.

In case nobody noticed, none of the scenes are supposed to be real. In the beginning of the vid they are all either in a chamber-thing or in an electric-chair-thing. They are all wearing weird goggly things. And someone get's injected with something. I think it's all a reflection of their deepest, darkest desires ( which is mostly sex). Mana, for example, is underneath this one person, who i don't know if it's a guy or a girl. Kozi get's an eyeball fed to him( he's also cutting himself, which isn't really sexual) Gackt is being himself and raping someone as usual. Yu~ki takes a bite out of somebody, which makes sense because he usually portrays a vampire. And Kami has is way with a few girls.
but how you interperate it is up to you.

XD I like the way Daniel Valentine states it! XP
