X-GENE MUTATION

Mutant Powers: The ability to drain electric based energy, which he can utilise in any way he sees fit; able to camouflage into dark backgrounds.

As soon as Stryker discovered this mutant, and brought him to the base the genetic experiments began to alter his mutation to include the ability to counteract nearly all of Mana’s powers. With her DNA stored, the process was easy for Stryker to achieve, but it took time.

Electrokinesis (Absorption): Before Stryker’s meddling, Nemesis was able to drain electrical energy from any mutant with an electrokinesis mutation, reusing that energy as lightning bolts from his fingers tips, or concussive balls of electrical energy. However, since Stryker messed with his X-Gene, altering this already potentially dangerous mutant with Mana’s abilities in mind, and training him to know exactly what powers Mana was capable of throwing at him, Nathaniel is now only capable of absorbing the energy, and reusing it on her alone. Because of his extensive study of Mana’s abilities Nemesis is among only a few mutants who know exactly what she is capable of.

Nemesis’ ability to drain electric energy is in every way a danger to Blade Girl, as her sole basis power is her connection to lighting and the electrical energy it gives her. When Nemesis first drained Mana he took everything she had to the point of death. With her powers now in him, he could use them against her. He can drain any one possessing an electrical mutation, but his re-usage of said energy is solely restricted to Mana only due to the alterations in his genetic structure.

Electrokinesis (Transformation): Due to the taking on of Blade Girl's powers, of which he has recently returned to her, Nemesis' own mutation took a leap.. he is now able to transform his body into a complete electrical state. The weakness therein with this, is that he needs electrical power lines, conduits, etc, to travel through, otherwise, at this stage, he can only maintain this transformation for a short time (this is why the taking over of the Xavier Mansion was so easy... plenty of electrical lines within.)

On the up and up, he’s able to not only absorb electricity from the sources described above, but to also reuse it, similar to how he once could when taking the power from an Electrokinetic mutant.
Control: Extremely high
Weaknesses: Described Above

Shadow Camouflage: Called this because this ability is limited only to dark backgrounds. EG: Metal walls, black stone, dark colours, and shadows. Works in the same way as normal camouflage, where someone wears the right colour clothes, or paints their face similar to their background to blend in, Nathaniel only has to step into a dark background and, essentially, although there, he’s gone.
Control: Extensively trained, so nigh near perfect.
Weakness: As stated, dark backgrounds only. Can still be heard, or seen via other means of the electromagnetic spectrum, EG: Infrared, Ultraviolet.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE

Personality: Once dark, quite and following orders to a tee, Dark Voltage has since found his long lost family, and started to develop a personality of his own. His sister has brought out the big brother type in him, and long before that, Mana showed him it was possible to care, and be cared for. He’s a good guy… and even though, deep down, the training received from Stryker can see him being a bit strict or precise at times, he’s there for his family, particularly his sister, whenever they need him.

He wishes to show those who once looked upon him with hatred that he is now his own person, and that he was forced to grow up long before his time; this too showing in the lack of understanding he has towards things at times.

Demeanour: New

Nature: Big brother

Current Affiliation: X-Men, Residents

Previous Affiliation: Loyal to Colonel William Stryker.

HISTORY

At the very young age of 12, Stryker discovered Nemesis and moved to have him taken; forced into a life of genetic experiments, leaving behind a loving mother, father, and an unborn baby sister. It was in front of his parents that Stryker’s trained men kidnapped the child.

Stryker chose, altered, and trained him for one purpose, to be able to foresee and counterattack anything the mutant known as Blade Girl threw at him. That purpose was nearly fulfilled. When Nemesis first appeared on the scene it was in a dream Mana had. Little did she know at the time what she thought was a figment of her imagination was all too real.

The very next morning, though, Mana, on arriving at the underground base at Alkali Lake with the other X-Men, and seeking out Stryker, her intentions to stop him for good, had her dream image became a reality.

Nemesis came from behind; finally able to do what he was chosen for; finally able to carry out his mission. He drained Mana, gaining control over her, and would have succeeded in taking her to some distant base under Stryker’s bequest had it not been for the intervention of Angel and Gambit.

This mutant was under strict guard in one of the mansion cells, still in possession Mana’s powers; still having that connection to her. A connection that the X-Men soon learned cannot be broken unless he willingly returns what he took from her.

Nemeses got to Jean through the telempathic link she shares with Mana, sending both of them into fits of rage. The connection to Mana was finally broken by the help of Rogue and Gambit, therefore also severing the link to Jean. Soon, Nathaniel escaped from his confined cell, his mutation developing further due to the new powers he'd taken from Mana.

Able to now turn into complete electrical energy, Nemesis disappeared into the electrical circuits of the mansion, locking it down and taking out his targets, dumping them into a secret room where he could later use them to get Mana back to the mansion. Many confrontations ensued, until it was finally time to gas everyone, giving him enough time to prepare.

The next day saw him torture Mana's closest friends, and from her position at her holiday home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, his main target felt everything, hightailing it back to the mansion.

A showdown followed, and during the fight, Mana's anger was replaced with compassion when she learned Nemesis was not the man she saw before her. Soon, she was able to use the link they shared to show him the truth, revealing to him his true name of Nathaniel Tobias Klo'rel. Nemesis soon gave back all he had taken from her, only letting the link they shared remain, before he disappeared, heading off to find his family, and the answers to the many more questions he still had.

Nathaniel hasn’t been seen or heard from since…

Maybe not heard or seen, yet, he’s found the family Mana showed him during their confrontation, and has since learned his sister was born happy and healthy three months after he was taken. Her name is Tiffany, and the two instantly clicked, this something Nathaniel was hoping for, as he remembered how happy he was when he learned his mother was pregnant. It was Tiffany who gave him his new codename, insisting that Nemesis no longer fitted who he was, and to get rid of the old man, he had to start completely anew. He didn’t hesitate to tell his family what had happened to him, his mother, Nadia, and his father, Kieran beside themselves when he showed up at their door.

It didn‘t matter he was a mutant because, as it turns out, his sister is too, a full blown Shadow Mancer. Nathaniel learnt and started to remember so much before those years with Stryker, soon finding himself some work, and using his spare time to make up for what he had missed… Tiffany taking him places he’d never even heard of, let alone been able to dream off as an agent of Weapon X.

BLADE GIRL & NEMESIS…

PART 1

The storm raged. Lightning flashed. Thunder roared. There was no wind. There was no rain. There was darkness; coupled by the setting sun and the black clouds now spreading as far as the eye could see in all directions over the sky. This was the setting for the inevitable confrontation between a mutant known as Blade Girl, and her one, true, arch Nemesis.

Protective Predatory anger; a protective instinct so ingrained in her Empathic healing abilities; emphasised by the black-tinged-purple glow in eyes of brown. Eyes identical in natural colour, tinged with the same purple glow, stared back, locked in a gaze only for her.

PRIMARY TARGET ACQUIRED! TAKE… HER… DOWN!

There was one thing her opponent lacked; one part of Mana he could not absorb and copy, and, right now, they slid effortlessly out of the slots in both of her arms; six of them… ready… shining…. just waiting to be used. Nemesis raised one eyebrow, as if in question as to whom was going to attack first, his senses telling him; his link to Mana, informing him it was going to be her.

She walked forward, faint, orange flames playing over her already glowing, purple skin. No words left her mouth; no words needed to be said to convey how she felt about what he had done to her friends; about what she had just found out he’d done to a teenager with the mind of a child, and no way to defend herself against the likes of him. The rage grew, urged on by everything ----- the violation of her mind; the loss of Angel; the image of Nemesis’s infiltration of the mansion, happening without her knowledge; the torture of her friends; the power he held over her; the realisation she couldn’t kill him without killing herself; and, all the while, that voice; the one of reason, empathy, and logic; pleading with her; screaming to be heard.

She had to show him the OTHER way!

The fireball forming, round and flaming in the palm of her hand, Nemesis petered it out before she even sent it flying. Eyes narrowing, thunder clapped overhead as she sprang, losing control of her anger. Years of training to anticipate her every move saw Nemesis twist around sideways, gripping her arm at the wrist, pushing her away from him, sending a charge of power, forced into her before he let go.

Body still shaking from the electrical surge, the ground came up to meet her hard, Mana’s hiss heard only by the living creatures beneath her form; felt down a link she couldn’t control, and couldn’t shut off, by him. She turned, climbing to her hands and knees, eyes narrowed dangerously.

Still where he had been before, Nemesis casually looked at his right hand, clearly unperturbed. She was reacting the was he had been taught she would, and even in a mind so engulfed with anger, Mana knew this was exactly the reason why she had to change her style; her makeup; her everything. There were some things Nemesis knew she would not do…

Oh… how… wrong… he… was!

Disappearing before his eyes, Nemesis pictured her appearing behind him, wrapping an arm around his throat, and holding the blades of the other to a major artery, in an attempt to threaten him into submission, and that is exactly what she would have done had not the image of Rogue pulsing with electrical-based pain entered her mind the moment; the split second; before she teleported.

He felt them; three, severely sharpened blades; break through the skin over his left ribcage, slicing neatly through, and beyond, to the major organ behind. Eyes widened, and he realised in that second what Stryker had failed to ------- that NO amount of manipulating, observing, studying, or training could EVER prepare one to anticipate the sudden, in the moment, raw emotion!

PART 2

Power ran through those blades; unbridled, no hesitation, no emotion, nothing holding it back, Mana’s raged-filled eyes boring into his. There was fear there, in his, a split second passing before it was gone, replaced with the determination; the strength to stop Rogue’s emotions from coursing through him, passed down by a link Blade Girl was starting to learn to control.

The other blades sprang forward, held back from entering his chest by ‘borrowed’ telekinetic energy, at the same time, returning the electricity, passing it down and over the same weapons that’d forced it into him. The intensity of both their attacks, identical powers wielded in different ways, caused a ripple to develop directly between them, the implosion, coupled by the unexpected explosion, sending them both back, flying high through the air, Nemesis’ form hitting the ground and sliding several metres to a stop; Mana’s, smashing, back first, into the trunk of a distant tree.

The phantom pain from the blade wounds to his side hidden under the excruciating agony of broken bones in her back, Mana lay where she had landed, barely conscious, regenerative abilities going to work, slowly dulling the pain; slowly bringing the distorted images in her mind to the fore…

Defiantly, the child shook his head, brown eyes misting over with tears, the memory of his shocked-to-the-core parents staring wide-eyed in horror, the car pulling up beside a family out for a day of fun in the park; the day ruined when one Colonel William Stryker sent four of his men to kidnap a child; a child who was just becoming a teen, and whose main mutant power ability was just starting to manifest.

Twelve-years-old, torn from his parents, and forced to undergo things no child should ever have to face!

Blinking, the pain now only a faint ache, the images and memories now so clear, she closed her eyes to block out any further, possible distractions,

“You can’t do this!” he cried, “You can’t!” Frightened eyes stared back at the masked doctor standing over him, Stryker’s smiling face looking down upon him from behind a glass petition set further up, and down, from the ceiling.

“I most certainly can, Nemesis,” he replied, the look of triumph so palpable in his eyes.

The needle was checked, cleared of all possible air pockets, inserted into the vein of a teenager who could do nothing to prevent it. As the anaesthetic worked through his system, he pictured his family; his father, his mother, his baby sister yet unborn; and, as he fell into a deep state of unconsciousness, all awareness of what was about to happen to him gone, the boy held on to the one emotion; the one that held him together even as his mind was erased; the one that stopped the modified control serum from working completely… the love he felt for a family he knew he would never ever see again!

The hand reached down to grab her by the back of the neck, to pull her roughly back to her feet; to send another power surge through a body already combating severity in its injuries…

They snapped open, and he sensed the shift in her emotions, the black tinge gone from eyes of purple, the arm coming around, the hand gripping his left wrist, rolling over to stare up at him.

Sympathy! Understanding! A realisation only two people with a link and bond such as theirs could have. She locked her gaze on him, eyes narrowing in a different kind of dangerous…

She knew! She had him!

Widening eyes; images hidden; the key to taking him down locked behind a shield he could not penetrate… he knew she had a plan; he had no doubt, from the look in her eyes, it was almost certain to be a successful one; the only thing he could do now…

Get out of her grasp…

Get some distance between them…

And throw everything he had at her at once.

PART 3

Touching him, directly, was the only way it was going to work, and when he phased back out of the hold she had on his wrist, teleporting away, Mana knew he sensed that too. Blades sheathed; anger gone; replaced by the need to help a mutant who was only the way he was because he’d had no choice; Blade Girl climbed to her feet, facing the man she was now viewing in a completely different way.

Lightning continued to flash. Thunder continued to roar. The storm growing in intensity until even the ones who were controlling it felt the awe and fear such elements inspired. Across the clouds it travelled, from his fingers it flew, down from the sky the bolt branched, connecting to energy forced from a man who was on the verge of panic.

Not knowing what she intended to do; no longer understanding and feeling; foreseeing and anticipating, Nemesis was blind!

Inches from her form, Mana back flipped, the intensified bolt of electricity flying over her, millimetres from hitting her right foot as it came down to plant itself firmly on the ground. No time was spared, the fireballs, one after the other, until the power was completely used up, flew straight for her, the woman twisting, turning, ducking, jumping, side flipping, and moving, thrusting out her hand to take control of several of them, petering them out; no intention to send them back at him; no intent to hurt him any longer remaining in her.

She saved this power for when she needed it the most; the ramifications of using it too dangerous to just call on it whenever; the use of it in her play fights with Gambit done with the knowledge she faced an opponent who wasn’t intent on taking her out for good. The bending of light; the ability to pass one’s molecules between the molecules of animate and inanimate objects, joined as one, the invisibility shield activated around her, forming from within; extra effort to incorporate two skeletons, one of bone, and one of metal, already draining to her; rendering anyone, bar those she allowed, unable to locate her with their eyes.

He had been waiting for her to use this ability, and, although she was now somewhat able to keep him out of her mind; thwart him from sensing where she was; she had yet to succeed at it to a superlative degree. Closing his eyes, he went in, flashing images of her appearing in his mind, playing out like a hologram transmission receiving interference.

She moved towards him, holding her ground against the now weakening, all-encompassing, telekinetic shove. There was his biggest mistake, he may have had the training; the manipulations; to anticipate her ever more, but he lacked the experience; the advantage of intense powers manifesting over an extended period of time; the knowledge and understanding of abilities that were truly, once and for all, only hers.

For the first time, and most likely the last for the foreseeable future, Mana not only teleported while still invisible, but took control of the bolt of lightning, so perfectly; so precisely; that, at the same time she appeared and placed her hand on the side of his face, the element struck, flowing straight through flesh and bone, hers and his, straight into his mind, unlocking memories; healing scars her ‘borrowed’ regenerative powers had already begun to undo.

“Come here, Sweetie,” the smiling face of the auburn haired, hazel-eyed, petite woman welcomed, open arms held out towards him.
The six-year-old boy ran into those arms, home from a hard day at school, finding comfort in the embrace of a woman who would die to protect him.

Forward in time, that same woman, accompanied by the loving embrace of a father who loved his son to no end, comforted him after finding out his much beloved pet had just died by unnatural, and unknown causes.

And, just days after that, those same arms, both sets, fought to stop him from being taken; fought to thwart the masked men, in a van of grey, from kidnapping their only son.

He saw this, and much more, the connection flung wide open, the need to show him the OTHER way; she would die to make sure she succeeded!

“*STOP!*” he screamed, both out loud and in her mind.

“Not until you see that you are not Nemesis. You are not the man Stryker made you. You were never meant to do what you are doing now…” she paused, taking a deep breath, the energy between them draining her quicker than she had ever known before, “You don’t hate me! You never did!” her words were soft, firm, full of an emotion he was starting to feel more than anything else… empathy.

“You… are… Nathaniel… Tobias… Klo'rel… you always have been, you just never knew it… until now.”

Brown eyes misted over with tears, and he couldn’t remember… no, that wasn’t right… he was starting to remember the last time he had cried. For nearly thirteen years, he had been used and abused; mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually; and, until now, he had never known any different. Gripping her wrist, he said, in a tone of voice never before heard by her, pleadingly, “PLEASE, STOP!” pushing her away, breaking the lightning connection between them so suddenly, they were both forced away from each other, down to the ground to recover.

Mana was so drained; so exhausted; she nearly gave out then and there, eyes closing, full of tears, feeling his pain, his confusion, his loss. She didn’t know how much time had passed, his right hand slipping under her chin to lift her head up so eyes were focused on his. His other hand moved to rest on the left side of her face.

“I thank you for showing me the truth, and I give it back to you, ALL of it, everything that I have taken,” he concentrated, closing his eyes, his head leaning back in the effort it took to return what wasn’t his.

Her energy level grew only enough for her to remain coherent through it all, minutes passing before his eyes once again locked with hers, “Only our link will remain; the same one you have with all those you have helped heal. I only hope forgiveness can be found for me, from you, in the future,” and with that, he disappeared, gone before she could do anything to stop him.

Blade Girl closed her eyes, tears falling, alone; left there with a new perspective on the mutant most knew as Nemesis; left there to collapse in a heap to the ground when there was nothing left; no energy remaining to keep her in a conscious state.
