I saw parts of the first one. Nowhere near as good as the anime in my opininon. Ryuk was funny, but didn't look real at all :P.

L is actually more freaky in the movies, he is...err..not that cool, he's more of a freak :P

General changes
* There is no time jump, so the events of the movies all happen over the same time span as the first half of the manga.
* Instead of the Death Note being passed to Higuchi, it was passed to Takada.
* Teru Mikami, Near, and Mello do not appear in the movies.

I love the movies! I have seen them both in full <3 And it was actually the movies that got me to like Light, it was sad and I cried at the end when they died >_< (Light...then L)

The movies did the opposite for me. They made me hate Light even more. They were still pretty good, though I think the anime was slightly better.
