Title: A curious question
Jounin Elite - May 6, 2007 04:22 AM (GMT)
I'm one of the people who feel obligated. I honestly think that Harry Potter is way overrated by now and I think that J. K. Rownling made a horrible decision in making her characters mature the way she did as the series went on, especially with a pairing of HarryxGinny. That one just pissed me off, because Rowling just wasn't pulling it off well in my opinion.
And I don't plan on seeing any more of the movies either. They suck more :P.

The whole fun in Harry Potter is the world and the characters. When Rowling tries to put in plot... well, it's not the books strongest suit.
The simple fun in the whole world is what I like. The fantastical things that go on. I feel the books have gotten away from that.
I'll read the 7th, but mostly because I feel obligated.

I used to love this series, but now it's been so long since I read the 6th one that I've forgotten half the character's names. I'll read it just so I don't feel left out when my friends start talkin' about it. I still like the movies though. :P

Seriously, for me, I don't care to read the books.
If I read the book, I don't see the movie.
If I see the movie, I don't read the book.
That's just me. *shrug* Since I never have read any of the Harry Potter books, I just watch the movie. It's kinda like I read "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", thus, I didn't/don't see the movie.
SUMMARY: I'll only see it if it's okay... or it's on tv.

If you're only watching the movies you're depriving yourself a great pleasure. They're okay in their own right, but they can't match up to the books. It's simply impossible to compress 400 (or 800, in the case of OOTP) pages into a 2.5 hour movie.
Speaking of, I saw OOTP at midnight last night, and it was quite good :) Probably my favorite movie so far, although I didn't really like the scene at the ministry at the end. It underwhelmed, since they cut out so much of it. They also cut all the great dialouge out of the Dumbeldore vs. Voldemort fight :(
And book seven come out in a week! Whee!

I love the series. It has taken it's mistakes, but who didn't that HarryxGinny was gonna happen. I do feel obligated to read Deathly Hallows, but I'll still read it no matter what. I feel the same beat to what they did in OOTP it was good and Luna Lovegood was awesome, and I love how Daniel Radcliffe said that "I must not tell lies" part at the ends and the movie was good, but left out the best fight in the series when Dumbeldore and Voldemort left out a lot, but it was the best film so far with Prisoner of Azcaban 2nd.

2nd was my favorite movie too. I'm seeing the new movie tommorow, but I really don't want to, I'm just seeing it because a couple friends are going :P.
I can't wait for the 7th book to come out so that it will end :D.

I love the book series, but preferably I like Eric Nylund and the Halo book series better. It entertains me more. :D

I thought it was a good ending. Although the epilogue was trash.

Well to be honest... I really couldn't wait for the book. I was one of the first people to actually buy it in Germany (I think) and I finished the whole thing in one night... With the help of 7 cups of coffee that is. These are just those sort of books where you'll be like totally left out if you don't read it cause the next day the people on this other forum were talking about it non-stop.
