I was talking to Shu-chan and I had a thought.

Playing out the prompts is a great idea, stuff to get us rolling. But what timeframe are we playing in? Is it when Bad Luck is first starting out? Is it two years after when they have done most of the stuff in the manga/anime?

Are we even going to follow a timeline and just play out the prompts as is--forgetting about age and at what level of stardom Bad Luck is?

This is the only problem I realize we have regarding not making up a storyline for this new RP.

Shu-chan mentioned something to think about. Starting the RP off where Bad Luck starts off may end up going a different way than the last time. Perhaps I'm worrying too much. But there will probably be circumstances where the RP feels similar to the old one. Is it best we forget the past? Try not to think to hard about redundancy?

But after thinking of this question...I think we might want to reconsider and make a storyline.

Well, I think a certain amount of redundancy is going to happen no matter where we start. Shu is still genki, Yuki's still a bastard, ok...a GORGEOUS bastard, and K still sleeps with his guns. None of the core personalities are going to change much, neither are the settings or occupations, so a lot of it will definitely feel familiar.

BUT. if we maybe use some of the prompts to start rps in accordance to a particular timeline, that should work? If I remember correctly, we kinda did that last time. We had a specific time when we started but took off from there and based rp threads on ideas that branched out. This time around, we're starting with a bunch of ready made threads we can use if we want and branch out from there.

A suggestion: start at the end of the manga/anime series but BEFORE the new tracks in the U.S. That way we have the entire series to draw from and reference but we can't mess up cuz we're on new ground, new territory and we can explore on our own.

It's just the matter of needing a timeframe to choose from really. I would rather not start at the beginning, so instead we say we are starting this new RP after two years of Bad Luck being with NG.

Actually, Gravi EX starts after the airplane lands in NYC. and continues from there. The only gap there is is the one that takes place from Tokyo to NYC. Murakami-sama started EX right from where she left off at.

It is up to Ryuichi to decide if he goes along with going to Hollywood. It's up to Tats if he follows him. It is up to Yuki and Shuichi if they get on that plane to New York.

Ok folks, didn't the issue of timeliness come up when we were considering starting the rp again? The fact is, that we ARE posting. This is the most activity the board has seen this year. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was this rp originally. If I remember correctly, it took a couple of months for everyone to get settled back in 2005. You should expect no different this time around, especially since we started it in the summer and especially since everyone actively posting here right now, in every single thread, has had at some point more than a two day lapse between replies. Even when we were fully engaged things slowed down in the summer. The rp died when NOBODY posted at all and that's clearly not happening to us right now. People ARE posting, there are just different levels of activity right now. For the moment, let's just let it ride and see if things pick up. If not, we can re-tool the story so that it goes along with folks as they play and we can still enjoy rping but not a: hold up the storyline or b: take the enjoyment out of hanging out together online by placing players under pressure.

So let's enjoy what we have while we have it and if it comes to a point where posting is non-existent, we can decide what to do then.
