Description: Try it out here

A few people are in the midst or have learned a little Japanese. It's wonderful that anyone has taken on this endeavor! Maybe you already know Japanese and would like to assist some in learning more ^^
Go ahead and practice your skill here!

For my first language act, I'd like to ask:

はい、しゅいちーさん。
シュイチサン。
I just tried MS Japanese character mode and it seems to work alright. Turn them on and type into the box like normal.
http://www.coscom.co.jp/japanesefont/input...installime.htmlI think this is how I installed it. It's been awhile and I'm hopped up on flu medicine so my memory is fuzzy at best.
Tats.

ティs 伊s 亜ウェ祖目!
Aww poor Tats..I think you said something about the flu etc. But THANK YOU for showing us this!!! I now can type Japanese characters without hunting all over the net for it XD
Although I'm a mile behind you guys since I don't know any Japanese. So this is my question.
If you type Japanese characters here and I copy and paste them onto Word. Is there a way to convert that to English so I can see what you said properly? All I have been able to do so far is copy and go to Translate on Word and it finds a bunch of related possible translations. That is the way I sort of figured out what you said, but I have no clue exactly what you said.
If there is a way, I'd be grateful! ^^
Also I find a lot of the words I type in Japanese character, it doesn't translate some letters. So I get some Japanese with English letters along with it XD

There's a translate function on Word? I didn't know that. Where's that located?
Umm...I found a few online translators but they only seem to work with roomaji to English and not kana or kanji to English. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but so far, I haven't seen anything that works.
Umm...what I said in the beginning was a test to see if MS Japanese would work on the board. I said Shuichi-san and Shuichi-san, the first in Hiragana and the second in Katakana.
Big Daddy don't read Kanji! He's worse than Ryu like that! ( LOVE YOU STARSHINE!)
Typing in MS Japanese is a pain. To get it to stop converting everything to Kanji I hit Ctrl Z and it reverts back to the kana form.
As for why it types some letters still in English, are you typing English words in Japanese mode? That's what it looks like. English has stand alone letters and outside of the vowels and "n" Japanese doesn't. I think it's leaving stuff like "s" and "t" in English cuz it doesn't know what to do with them, but if you were typing sa, se, su, so or ta, te, tsu, to, it'd type the Kana. So you'd have to type the Japanese equivalent to the word you want in roomaji.
Thanks is ありがと but if you type the English thanks, てゃんks it turns out like that.
See? A pain.
I'm also noticing that if you type out the name of a smiley while in Japanese mode, it inputs the html for that smiley. Maybe that's what is happening with you Shu? Are you in Guided or Normal mode?
I'll just type the English translation to what I'm trying to say in Japanese.

OH yeah on Microsoft Word if you highlight the words, just right click and there should be a 'translate' option under Synonyms. It's not THAT useful XD Barely works XD
Oh yeah those online translators is what I've been using to half ass my way through some Japanese. Like Babble Fish, I'm not even sure what form it gives Japanese in..I'm gonna guess on Kanji.
I did find this today a Romanji Dictionary.
DictionaryYou probably already seen this, but it's kinda cool. Even gives you the adj, n, v etc which helps someone like me immensely! ^^;;
Oh I see, yes that space bar thing is a pain, it's hard to get used to not hitting space and converting it all to Kanji XD Apparently it starts of Hiragana on mine. Really I dunno half the time LOL
OMG I'm such a numbskull...really... -_- OF COURSE that's why I'm getting English letters XD I forgot that the Lessons on that site was Romanji words. But I was getting all FWEEEE when I noticed that my English words were being instantly translated into Japanese XD! Thanks hun for putting me straight again ^^
Many thanks! ぉヴぇや!

well that's why we're here, to learn! =D
i tried both guided and normal mode and got the same result and haven't added/written any smileys... =/ ...
and as for the space bar set up thing, i love it. it works for me ^^. i don't know anything about using Word to translate, so I can't help you there, but Shu is willing to teach! ^.~ i'm up to several kanji. i just need to figure out this stupid little bug ><
for starters I will say, switch to Katakana =P

I speak some Japanese and I'm not sure how to make the on the forum in Japanese's characters. I know that there is a font for Microsoft Word that lets you type in Japanese.
