Title: Buy the Manga

RyuFan1129 - September 4, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
I have watched the Gravitation tv series, and absolutely loved it! I just wish there were more... I am thinking about buying the manga, but I wanted to get some opinions first. So, what I wanted to know was, do you think it is better/worse/the same as the TV show, and if it would even be worth it after seeing the series. I also wanted to know if it has a lot of sex stuff. I have heard that it has more than the show, but I want to know how much, because if it is a lot, then I wont even bother. Anyways, thank you in advance for your help!

Hey there.

I can't speak for volumes past number eight...I haven't read them yet (I know, it's total blasphemy) but I enjoyed the manga in addition to the anime. I saw the anime vol. 1 first and it made me want to read the manga. The manga is a bit different, more detailed and more plot and characters introduced. The time line also isn't exactly the same. As far as sex...there's a bit more than the anime but what of the series I've read I don't think it's very graphic and a lot of it is funny. This is definitely shounen-ai when you put it up against say...Kizuna, or Skyscrapers of Oz...etc. So get you get hints and some lime, but no real lemons in my opinion. If you're not trying to see anything hard core, stay far far away from the Remixes--especially the one where Shuichi is a chick. That one will put you straight into therapy.

If you're in the U.S. and live near a Borders or Barnes and Noble, you can always go there and read the first couple of volumes before you pay for them to make sure. There may even be some at your local library.

Hope that helps.

Big Daddy.

BTW--the manga is worth it just to see more of the real star of Graviation. ME. and of course my Starshine...

((Sorry had to move this since its a Gravitation General Discussion. No harm done ^^ ))

The manga or anime?

Manga totally!

Tatsuha points out the true points about the content of sex and such. But I too first saw the anime. It was awesome! But it urged me to read the manga. That was MORE awesome to me. I think the manga gives much much more depth to the characters. And the story is a little different...considering they made and finished the anime before the manga.

Such a shame in a way...

So much is missing from the anime. All the characters from Manga volume 8 and up for example. But I loved the interaction with Yuki and Shuichi more in the manga. It was more fun and sometimes sweet. I think the anime lacks in character so much for Yuki and Shuichi and everyone really.

If you're an obsessed fan like most of us...you'll LOVE the manga! Very worth it ^^

If you want to read some of it first before buying it you can download up to volume 5 here Scantalated manga B)

The anime is okay. I mean its not actually great. Yuki's image is distorted a little ya'know? He's cruel, cool, and sexy wrapped in his blonde in the manga while in the anime it just doesnt seem the same. Dont even get me started on Ryuichi.

I read 1-4 of the manga online and I own 5-12. I also have the two novels which are, dare I say, juicy as the manga.

In my opinion...

I love the manga. I haven't seen the anime yet (but hey, the manga basically covers everything plus some!) I like the manga, it's so quirky and so much crap goes on it drives people crazy. Read 'em at least twice, my friend owns them. If anything, read them at the bookstore, then buy them when you're sure you like them.

As for the novels... I've read "Voice of Temptation", and I just about died laughing during many chunks of it. It's hilarious, but the novel seems kinda... odd... in comparison to the mangas. Subtle things, but really juicy. Like that picture...

Later Notice...
Wow. This is an old topic. *snork*

The novels seem to delve deeper into Shuichi's persona. He's so emo XD
