Its come to my attention that not everyone wants a Timeline and K-san ^^; has jumped the gun XD So let me know if you want a Timeline in the RP or not. Thankies ^^

*adds her opinion to why she answered her way even if it might not be wanted*

I think a timeline is good, but also bad. I say no to having one because they cause more trouble than they're worth. As long as people know around what day of the week/time of day something takes place, it shouldn't matter. It does help with keeping things in order, but what about other characters? What if a character doesn't have anything to do for another few days in the RP? Does that mean they can't do anything until those two days go by? That could be weeks or months in Real Time. Yeah, they can skip ahead two days, but then we'd have people complaining that they're ahead and start more drama.

Timelines can be a good thing, but in a board like this they're annoying and tiresome. Unless we keep a standard time range. Like, two/four days Real Time is one day RP time or something like that. But, that's a thing that rarely anybody agrees on anyway.

That's just my opinion on the matter.

to be honest i think trying to work out a timeline would be too much brainwork (or am i just being lazy? lol) if we did have a timeline system i really wouldn't pay much attention to it, i would just follow through the posts using hyperlinks, thats quick and easy to do.

but meh, i'm not really for or against, i just wouldn't take any notice

I've never liked the idea when it comes to message board rp. It works great for lj rping, but in this format, I think it'll end up being confusing.

TIMELINE! >.<

You need a timeline to properly preform a literary forums roleplay; as I learned a few years back when I started my first one on a forums...^___^

Parts, if used through a timeline, can be summarized and PMed to a RPer that misses something; same with new people. Links to certain pages or an index of references would be great for it. It's not as confusing as some think to do. (A timeline on here I mean...)

*is not quite sure what to decide* :/ Hmm, well, I agree with everyone above. ^^;; *has never been very decisive* Timelines are necessary to get everyone around successfully, so we won't have any misunderstandings or confusion, but then again, they can be a little too demanding for someone who has to catch up, and is working days behind the rest of the RPG, etc. I've worked under both conditions before, and I'm just speaking from experience. -__-;; But... I think I'll vote for a timeline. It's just a little more organized. *nods*

Since I don't know the difference (first RP) I'll go with what everyone wants. So long as it's not too confusing or hard to catch up if we're working and accounts for everyone's different time zone in the real world.

:D

Although a timeline would make things more organized, I have to agree with Fujisaki on this one. Maybe I've missed some things, but lately Hiroshi-kun has had nothing to do in any of the RPs and it would be a shame for him to take to the back burner just because he isn't needed right now in any RPs. If we have a set time line, then perhaps other players would get stuck in this same situation and then we would have a bunch of people just waiting hopelessly for someone else to post so that they can contribute.

Like Fujisaki-chan said, as long as we all have a general idea of what's going on and when said things are taking places, then there shouldn't be much of a problem. :D

From the viewpoint of someone who only has the time to check this forum every few days....

I'm finding it quite difficult to follow the RP when a lot of posts have been made. While I can isolate the new threads and view them in order, there doesn't seem to be a way to isolate the threads that have been added to since my last visit (without subscribing to them all individually), so I kind of end up having to read the posts in reverse chronological order!

I have no idea how the timeline would work, although some sort of clue in the thread subtitles as to their order would be really helpful. I also appreciate that an absolute timeline would prevent people from skipping ahead to a new story/event in order to get their character involved.

Perhaps instead of an absolute timeline, the thread subtitles could be used to indicate where the characters involved have come from, i.e. "continued from..." which I have seen on one or two. That at least helps people to read them in order.

*my two cents' worth*

Yes i think thats actually a better idea than having to mess about with dates and such. that way all the threads will be linked and no one will get confused.

*Applaudes the idea* I think we should go with this ^^

I like that as well! Especially if one of us has to go away for a bit and needs to catch up!

Yes this idea sounds the best!

Making times and day for every new topic created becomes maddening. But if we were to use the Topic Description to describe more accurately where the character is coming from etc...that would be very helpful ^^

Anything to make the RP more easy to follow it the main goal right?
