Announcing the Fanart Forum's very first
THEMED VALENTINE DAY FANART CONTEST!!!!

Instead of just giving you the basic 'theme of love' for this contest, I thought I'd make it specific anime-themed! I wonder how well this idea will go over with all of you...... :P

Here are the guidelines:

All art MUST be original! No copying directly from a pre-existing piece of artwork, fanart, or TV clipping (aka, scene from show).

Artwork must portray any/all character(s) from the Cardcaptor Sakura manga OR anime to be considered. Artwork submitted doesn't have to be part of original anime/manga storyline: What you do with them is your own business.

NO NUDITY, sexual scenes or implications!!!!! No exceptions!!!!!

Like before, either pm your submissions to me via the link in your control panel, or via my e-mail. Either is acceptable:)

Be creative, follow the theme, and try your best to 'Capture' Valentine's day with these characters!!!! The artwork that best portrays the theme wins!!!

No more original art Valentine's Day Contest? Oh, I had such a cute picture planned. Oh well, perhaps I'll post it in the fanart section instead.

But I love Card Captor Sakura anyway...I think I may have a lot of fun with this.

I guess you really had your heart set on the original art contest.....I would have kept that idea, except that no one (except like three people) entered into the last original 'fanart' contest......

I was pretty dissapointed. I thought that if maybe I gave everyone a direction, more people would enter into this one. If it turns out that this idea sucks like the last one.....I'll go back to the original art contest rules.

I wouldn't stress over it too much Yuki. . . . this forum is still young. . . and the regulars are. . . . well. . . . even fewer.

I'm pretty sure Back and Hiyono will participate in this one though. . . .so that =s 5 at least!!!! (or at least they BETTER participate!!! <_< . . . . :P )

Well, the choice is theirs :) I never like to demand things of others.....but more enteries would be nice.....

Ha, it's no problem Shiroiyuki. I just had this wonderful father-daughter picture all planned out in my head, but I'll just post it in the fanart section (if I ever get around to actually drawing it). Anyway, I have a question. Is it okay to have a same-sex pairing? Nothing too bad of course, but Touya/Yukito just happens to be one of my favourite pairings in CCS.

Hopefully we have more entries in this contest. By the by, mormonshedevil, your Christmas picture was simply amazing. Way better than I did :rolleyes:

To answer your question, Gundamgirl, yeah, same sex pairings are fine by me. As long as they are tasteful (same goes for traditional pairs, too!). I LOVE Yukito, so any tribute to him is warmly welcome :rolleyes: :D

And GG. . . I really don't think my pic was much better than yours. YOur whole composition was just beautiful!!! :wub: :wub: I mean it looked so natural!!! Nothing was 'forced' in. Had you thrown in some color and stuff it would have been drop dead GOREGEOUS!!

I promise I will try really hard to get this done. not making any promises (remember how long it took me to get my first fanart up :rolleyes: ) But I will try!!! I don't think the restriction to cardcaptor sakura should be a pain for anyone!! Such a good show!!

Well, it is now February 3rd.....11 days till the deadline....

I'm half done my picture...

It's kind of sad, but I'd have to do a lot of thinking before I could turn around and do a fluffy picture...even though I have an idea for one brewing in my small little mind. It's so hard to find good screenshots of characters.

And I must also say this:

I had to put in the show and just watch some eps to get my screenshots. . . . I figured they would be pretty hard to find online!! (of course that process took me FOREVER!!! :( )

I bet I could pull one out in a day or two... but I've never seen the show... so don't hate me if mine looks weird.

BTW didn't quite understand the rules about how "many" were supposed to be in the picture.

Hey yuki, would it be okay if i were to draw say, sakura and then add in some other characters? or does it all have to be original drawings? and will it need to have a background that matches and actual place from ccs ?

^Heck no! Any background (or none at all) is fine with me!

Okay, I'm not sure what you're saying about the 'drawing Sakura, or original characters...'....

It is Cardcaptor Sakura (the manga/anime) themed, so naturally, it should feature at least one of the characters from it.......but that doesn't have to be Sakura per se.....

You can draw one of the characters, then draw in one of your own as well, I don't care.... Just make sure that you're not coping someone elses work directly when making your submission. Using screenshots and pictures off the web to get IDEAS for your piece is one thing, drawing your submission EXACTLY like them is another.

I hope I answered your question....if not, ask it again....I just didn't understand what you were getting at :blink: (today, I am a little ditzy....) :rolleyes:

The next contest will probably be an 'Easter Day' one....but I'm not sure what theme I will come up with for it.....

Maybe Tenchi Muyo (since I really love this anime, and Ryo oh ki as the Easter 'bunny' is too cute to pass up!)

If yuki doesn't have an idea already I have a suggestion!!! She sould do a promo pic of the persons RPG character!!!! (if they have one. . . . if not just a random pic they could use as the RPG character!!! It'd be fun!!!)

~unrelated note~ I doing a quick photoshop job on kadees pic and he'll be up soon!!! ( I'm doing it fastlike because I want it to look like he could have done the whole thing on his own!!)

I was working on a (not so great...) CCS pic, but now, I think I will do a promo pic for the winner (of their character, of course)!!!!

That is such a neat idea!!! I love all of the characters made so far, so it will be a great way to spend my time!

And, since you are the only one to enter (so far...to my knowledge...need to check e-mail), you will probably win by default anyway.... *sigh*

I really wish more people had the time to submit art for these contests.....I always wanted to host art competitions...and that was practically the reason I created this forum in the first place: To host contests for aspiring artists :)

I'll go check my email...but I doubt I'll find anything....>_<

Just be patient Yuki, this forum is still little. . . . we need more members!!!! I'm sure once more people join this place will be busy!!! YOu just have to give it more time than just 3 1/2 months!!! ;)

i know it won't qualify, but i can put together a nice pic with some ccs pic's, i won't be eligable but atleast you'll have more than one entry even though i know shedevil's is better :)

It's okay...I'm already working on the 'prize'.....(which I can't technically tell you what it is....but lets just say, certain people already have the idea...)

Two more days till the deadline, and this time, I think that I'll be right on time with the prize!!!!! I'm already coloring it in as we speak (I am pretty quick with the drawing/inking phase...just slow with the coloring...), so I have no doubts about my punctuallity this time around! :D


If, by chance someone else enters at the last second, however, then I am screwed.....but I would still like to show off the piece I am working on right now, with the Shedevil's permission, of course (*sigh* I gave the prize's identity away :rolleyes: Big surprize, no?) o:)
