Title: Arkansas bivalves

These were fresh dead collected 2/5/06 on the edge of a pond in SW Arkansas.

The shells on top are extremely thin shelled, and approx 45 mm.

The middle shells are very thick and heavy shelled, and the largest is 80 mm.

The bottom shells are somewhat thin, no where near as fragile as the top ones, and all are roughly 65 mm. These were the most common. The edges are flexible, but I assume will be very brittle when dry, if not break off just from light handling.
Also had more of a perio than the others.

Well I think this is a better pic than the one of the snails in the other thread, but I think something is wrong with my scanner. The pictures used to be a lot sharper.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I've talked to scotto about this on the side but I thought I'd post the reply here.

The shells on the top and bottom appear to be Utterbackia imbecillis (Paper pondshell). The shells in the center look to be Pyganodon grandis (Giant Floater). Both of which are common in Arkansas.
