"Dad, hurry..I gotta see if mom's alright", Will was fidgeting in his backpack for a candy bar as he had not eaten since lunch. The car was already going well over the posted speed limit, and Lucas was keeping a wary eye out for patrol cars.
"Will, don't you worry..and if I go any faster we'll be the ones in a wreck..and you know what your mom would say about that".
"Jeeesh...don't go there please!, but Uncle Austin did say she's ok..right Dad?"
"yeah, she's tough..but man I wish she would learn to drive a little better! You know her, she's always putting on lipstick, or talking on the phone..wonder she hasn't killed you and her before this." Lucas smiled at the way he always kidded her.."Sami, you don't have accidents, but you cause a lot of them!"
"She really should take some driving lessons from Carrie though..heh..heh..after some cooking lessons!" in fact there was only one thing Lucas could think of that Sami was better at than Carrie..and it really didn't pay to think about that!
The apartment door was unlocked when Lucas and Will stepped in, and they were surprised to see Austin sitting at the table with Carrie. "Uncle Austin, can you take me to see mom now?"
"No, Will, fraid not. I think Lucas should take you. I have to tell you Will, I am not going to be married to your mom any longer..it was a mistake, I'm so sorry to put this on you again.."Austin reached out to embrace Will, but Will pulled away and began to rant..
"What did mom do this time?!!!!! WHAT..WHAT..WHAT....She' s ruined it all again..I hate her..I hate her so much!!!!! I just wish she was dead!!!!
Lucas looked at Austin..then Carrie and he understood all at once..this was not Sami's fault..it was Austins..The look on Carries face said it all so plainly. She was looking at him with a mixture of sadness and pity in her eyes and he felt the sting of betrayal to his very soul!
"Will..I'm taking you to see your Mom..No backtalk.. we will talk on the way. "
"Austin..we will talk later".
