1. Original characters should be just that; original. Do not take a character from another source (television show, movie, book, etc.) and apply with him or her. Even if the name is altered and the character is made to fit into this game, it is still plagiary.
2. Powers should be unique. Try not to use an exact replica of the powers of a cannon character or of another original character. Variations are sometimes acceptable but if the similarity is too great then do not expect to be accepted.
3. Clichéd pasts will be critically examined. Hard as it is to believe, many people have a normal, happy childhood. Not everyone is an orphaned government project gone awry, hunted by mutant haters and having to fight the ingrained evil nature to do good.
4. The key to a well-designed character is distinctiveness. Not every character will be a perky blonde with the most musically gifted voice ever who everyone loves nor will every character be a brooding gothic type.
5. Be realistic. If the character murdered several people in cold blood, why would he or she want to come to a school? The character would obviously have a severe mental instability and ‘Besides hanging her enemies from the trees by their intestines to make sure they were dead that one time, she is quite friendly and easy to like’ would not be the case.
6. Consider cause and effect. If the character suffered through an abusive childhood, what notions might that leave him or her with about the world? What personality traits could he or she possibly reap from the experience?
